Cheng, a junior from Virginia Beach, Va., has the distinction of becoming the first women's golfer to earn an ODAC Golf of the Week award. At the Hollins Invitational, Cheng helped HU to the team title by finishing second overall and first among ODAC players on the 5,834-yard par 72 track at Ashley Plantation Golf Club. Her two round total of 155 (79-76) came in at 11-over par, two strokes behind Emily Javadi from Sewanee. Hollins' team total of 314 (158-126, +26) was took strokes clear of Sewanee for the team crown.
Women's Golf Honor Roll
Andrea Walker, Bridgewater - (Fr., - Warsaw,
Va.)
Walker fired rounds of 78 and 86 to finish in a tie for
fifth place overall to lead Bridgewater at the Hollins Invitational
at the Ashley Plantation Golf Club. Walker finished the weekend at
+20 (164) to crack the top five of the individual
leaderboard.
Sara Moir, Washington and Lee - (Fy., - Roanoke,
Va.)
Moir was the Generals' top individual finisher as they
officially began play in their first varsity season with the
Hollins Invitational over the weekend. Moir shot an 84-85--169 to
finish seventh overall at the competition.
