Palombo's 400th Men's Basketball Win Highlights Night of Milestones for Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C. | Two Guilford College individual milestones were reached on Saturday afternoon in the Quakers men's basketball win over visiting Bridgewater College, 78-55. Head coach Tom Palombo highlighted the result with his 400th career men's basketball victory and his 300th triumph holding the Quakers' reins.

Senior forward Marcus Curry added to the effort by eclipsing 1,000 points for his career. He is the 34th GC men's basketball player to reach the mark with 892 points on his Quakers' ledger after transferring from Bridgewater in January 2016.

Palombo is the 35th active NCAA Division III men's basketball coach to reach 400 career victories. He joins Virginia Wesleyan University mentor Dave Macedo as the only active ODAC men's coaches with at least 400 career wins.

The 14th coach in Guilford history, Palombo entered his 16th season in Greensboro with 287 wins as a Quaker. He previously picked up 100 victories in five seasons as the men's head coach at Defiance (Ohio) College. Palombo's career record as both a men's and women's basketball head coach stands at 541-248. He spent three seasons as the Defiance women's coach, posting a 78-7 mark. He also coached his alma mater's women's program at Virginia Wesleyan, going 63-43 in four seasons.
