McCarthy, a senior from Rockville, Md., picks up his second
straight weekly award after leading the Quakers to two more ODAC
victories to extend their current winning streak to six games.
In a 91-88 double-overtime victory at Emory & Henry,
McCarthy scored a career-high and ODAC season-best 44 points, which
marks the most scored by an ODAC player since 2008 and the fifth
highest total in NCAA Division III this season. McCarthy
scored 13 of the Quakers 21 points in the overtime periods,
including 10 in the second extra frame to secure the win. He
finished 16-of-29 from the field, nailing seven three-pointers
along the way. He was 5-of-5 from the foul line, adding three
rebounds, three assists and a steal. I na 64-48 win over
Eastern Mennonite, McCarthy drilled five more three-pointers on the
way to 15 points. He added an a rebound an an assist.
For the week, he was 12-of-25 from downtown, shooting
52.5-percent (21-of-40) overall. McCarthy is currently fourth
in the ODAC in scoring (16.5 ppg) and overall points scored (313).
He leads the ODAC in three-pointers made (66), is third in
free throw shooting (51-of-62; 82.3%) and fourth in steals
(37).
