Roanoke's Sam Love was the recipient of the 2010 William C. Stiles Memorial Award announced by the USILA this week. It is given to the nations most outstanding defensive player in NCAA Div. III. His brother, Ben Love 06 earned this honor as a senior following the 2006 season. Love also joins three other Maroons as winners of the Stiles Award.
Guilford Director of Athletics Tom Palombo announced the appointment of Tom Carmean as the schools head mens lacrosse coach Tuesday. Carmean, the 12th head mens lacrosse coach in school history, replaces Andrew Rowe, who resigned in April after six seasons. Carmean spent the last 11 year's as the head coach at Amherst College
The USILA announced its annual NCAA Division III All-American teams, and 13 ODAC student-athletes earned recognition (including first teamer Sam Love, above). Roanoke placed eight amongst the three teams and honorable mention lists. Hampden-Sydney and Lynchburg each boast a pair of award winners, and Washington and Lee garnered the final honor.

Sophomore attack Jeff Keating became the 42nd Maroon to cross the 100-point plateau on Saturday afternoon, with his last point arguably his most important. Roanoke College put together a 10-goal second half in knocking off Wittenberg University, 15-4, in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament. The The fifth-ranked Maroons travel to #4 Gettysburg College on Saturday in the second round.
Roanoke College learned that it will be the lone representative of the ODAC in the 2010 NCAA Division III Mens Lacrosse Tournament on Sunday evening. Earlier in the day, the Maroons, ranked fifth in the country, defeated #10 Lynchburg College, 12-8, to claim their 15th conference title. Roanoke opens with Wittenberg in the NCAA first round.
Roanoke College staved off a tough matchup with Lynchburg College to claim the 2010 ODAC Men's Lacrosse Title, 12-8, in Salem on Sunday afternoon. RC found itself down after the first quarter, but the Maroons rebounded with seven goals in the second period to spur themselves towards victory.

Hampden-Sydney midfielder Kyle Jett (above) secured both the ODAC Player of the Year honor as well as the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete award. Roanokes Bill Pilat was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year, and Lynchburg's Max Voumard earned ODAC Rookie of the Year recognition.
For the second straight season, Roanoke College commands the top seed in the ODAC Mens Lacrosse Tournament, and earns one of two byes into the semifinal round. The Maroons, ranked sixth by the USILA, posted a 14-2 overall record and 7-0 conference mark. Lynchburg College (12-4, 6-1), rated 10th in the country, also earns a first round bye as the second seed.
