JOHN ROBERT PLYLER, Hampden-Sydney College, Junior - Goalkeeper


Plyler, a junior from Charlotte, North Carolina, continued his strong play, shutting out both opponents that the Tigers faced this week.  In Hampden-Sydney's 1-0 double overtime victory over Randolph-Macon, Plyler stopped all four shots that he faced.  In the Tigers' 3-0 victory over Guilford, he had six saves to preserve the shutout.  Plyler now has seven solo shutouts on the season, which is tied for the third most in Hampden-Sydney history.  He is also second on Hampden-Sydney's all-time shutouts list with 17.  Plyler has only surrendered seven goals in 15 games so far this season. 

Men's Soccer Honor Roll

Bryce Shank, Eastern Mennonite University, Sophomore - Midfielder
Shank helped the Royals control play in their two wins this week. The slick midfielder assisted on the equalizing goal on Wednesday's 3-1 win at rival Bridgewater College.  Saturday, Shank scored his first goal as a Royal in EMU's 2-0 shutout off Emory & Henry.

Russell Ryan, Roanoke College, Freshman - Goalkeeper
Ryan had two shutouts in two games last week against Randolph (4-0) and in a 0-0 tie against Lynchburg.  Russell had three saves in the win over the Wildcats in addition to his six saves in a scoreless tie against the Hornets to help his team stay atop the ODAC standings.

Brandon Massie, Virginia Wesleyan College, Senior - Forward
Massie helped guide VWC to 2-0 week in Old Dominion Athletic Conference competition by adding two more goals and an assist to his totals.  He now has 52 career goals, moving him into the No. 2 position among VWC's all-time goal scorers, and he has 129 career points, the third highest total in VWC history. VWC has played five consecutive matches without a loss and has improved its record to 10-3-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the ODAC.
