ODAC Eight Qualify for NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Three-Day Event Hosted by Wartburg College

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Eight student-athletes are set to represent their schools and the ODAC at the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.  Three men's competitor and five women's standouts head to Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, for competition in the annual season-ending event May 26-28.

The ODAC women's representatives are a mirror image of the league's indoor contingent. Bridgewater College duo Amber Celen and Hannah Chappell-Dick return to Iowa along with Eastern Mennonite University' Hannah Chappell-Dick, Virginia Wesleyan College's Marissa Coombs, and Washington and Lee University's Dana.  Celen, Chappell-Dick, Coombs, and Lee each earned All-American honors indoors.

Three new male participants make their way to the Midwest.  BC's Sam Gunther is joined by Roanoke College's Harrison Toney and Randolph College's Anthony Quinn.  Quinn is the first WildCats' competitor to appear in a NCAA track championship in school history.

Men's Performance List     Women's Performance List

Trice will compete in one event while Celen will test her ability against the nation's best in three disciplines. Trice enters 21st in the 22 woman field in the triple jump with a mark of 11.65 meters.  Celen is right in the middle of the pack in her three events.  Her ODAC record-tying time of 11.98-seconds in the 100-meter dash is slotted 11th along with her mark of 0:24.61 in the 200-meter dash.  She will also try her hand at the long jump, an event in which she ranks 13th at 5.75 meters.

Chappell-Dick, a four-time All-American, will take to the track one final time to cap a stellar career at EMU.  Chappell-Dick will compete in the 1,500-meter run, an event in which she owns the ODAC record with a time of 4:27.25.  Her best time this season is just outside that mark at 4:28.62, which sits fifth in the 22-woman field.

Coombs will again compete along side Chappell-Dick, much like the two did in the mile run during the indoor championships.  Coombs slots 11th in the 1,500-meter list with a time of 4:31.47.

Lee has now qualified for all six of the NCAA championships in which she's been eligible, picking up three All-American awards along the way.  She joins Celen in the long jump field as she ranks 21st with a season-best mark of 5.68 meters.

A little more than two week's ago, BC's Gunther set the ODAC record in the 800-meter run at 1:50.58.  That seeds him 11th in the 20-man competition.  The story is nearly the same for Toney in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, with his new conference standard coming a few days sooner.  Toney's time of 9:09.71 earned him the 19th position in the event.

Quinn has already made Randolph history by qualifying for the championships, but now looks to take the next step with an All-American run in the 110-meter hurdles. Quinn's fastest time of 0:14.54 is just 0.24-seconds short of the ODAC record and ranks 17th in the national field.
