Marissa Coombs, Virginia Wesleyan, Jr., Mid-Distance
April 17, 2017Coombs, a junior from Newton, N.J., strengthened her hold on the ODAC's top time in the 1,500-meter run at the New Captains Classic and Combined Events at Christopher Newport University. Coombs finished fourth overall in the event with a time of 4:33.15 to top the ODAC ranks by nearly four seconds. That time is also fifth in NCAA Division III. -
Lizzy Stanton, Washington and Lee, Sr., Pole Vault
April 17, 2017Stanton, a senior from Papillion, Neb., won the pole vault competition at the WildCat Invitational over the weekend. She matched her season-high by clearing 3.55 meters (11' 7.75"). Entering the ODAC Championships, she owns the conference's best mark by nearly a foot.

Mac Strehler, Washington and Lee, Sr., Distance
April 17, 2017Strehler, a senior from Moseley, Va., put together a school-record breaking performance in the 10,000-meter run at the Bison Outdoor Classic. Strehler broke his own record by over 30-seconds, placing 22nd overall and sixth in a heavy Division III invitation field with a time of 30:19.60. That is the top time in the ODAC by nearly three minutes and ranks ninth in NCAA Division III.

Evan Truman, Lynchburg, Sr., Jumps
April 17, 2017Truman, a senior from Richmond, Va., continued his strong season in the long jump at the WildCat Invitational. He wont the event with a leap of 6.89 meters (22' 7.25"), which would rank third on the ODAC chart had he not already tied atop the conference's long jump list (7.03m) earlier this season. Truman enters the ODAC Championships tied as the #1 seed in the long jump and solo #1 in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.

Amber Celen, Bridgewater, Jr., Sprints
April 10, 2017Celen, a junior from Townsend, Del., returned to her record-breaking ways at the Sam Howell Inviational hosted by Princeton University. Celen posted a pair of ODAC top-times in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. She broke her own ODAC record in the 100-dash with a time of 11.76 seconds. That time is second in NCAA Division III. Celen added a time of 24.51 in the 200-meter dash to take over the top spot in the conference in that event. That time also ranks fourth in the country.

Katelyn Senger, Bridgewater, Sr., Throws
April 10, 2017Senger, a senior from Bridgewater, Va., continued her record-breaking run over the past few weeks with four strong performances in the throws at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational. For the second week in a row, Senger reset the ODAC record in the discus, placing second overall at 46.04 meters (151' 0.0"). She added another top-10 showing by placing ninth in the shot put at 10.92 meters (35' 10.0"). She chimed in with a third top-10 mark with a new season-best throw in the javelin to place 10th overall at 30.91 meters (101' 5.0"). Senger capped her day with a 19th place finish in the hammer throw at 36.00 meters (118' 1.0").

Evan Truman, Lynchburg, Sr., Sprints/Jumps
April 10, 2017Truman, a senior from Richmond, Va., continued his strong outdoor campaign on the track and in the jumps at the Lynchburg Collegiate Invitational. Truman finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time to 10.77 seconds, just short his previous ODAC-best of 10.74 seconds. He then upped the ante on his own ODAC-best time in the 200-meter dash by placing fourth at 21.90 seconds. That time ranks 21st in NCAA Division III. He then helped Lynchburg to sixth in the 4x400-meter relay at 3:27.56. Truman also competed in the long jump, placing second overall at 6.97 meters (22' 10.5"). He already owns the league's best jump at 7.03 meters (23' 0.75").

Grant Amoateng, Eastern Mennonite, So., Jumps
April 10, 2017Amoateng, a sophomore from Bristow, Va., competed in three events at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational over the week. He kept his name atop the ODAC lists in the triple jump by placing sixth overall at 14.24 meters (46' 8.75"). That equaled his previous season-best mark, which ranks 13th in NCAA Division III. Amoateng added a ninth place showing in the long jump at 6.41 meters (21' 0.50"), and took a turn on the track in the 100-meter dash, where he finished 25th overall at 11.32 seconds.

Tajah Miller, Eastern Mennonite, So., Sprints
April 03, 2017Miller, a sophomore from Waynesboro, Va., put together a strong showing in a pair of sprints at the VertKlasse Meeting, which features a field largely comprised of NCAA Division I and II athletes. Miller broke a 17-year old Eastern Mennonite record in the 100-meter dash as she finished 10th overall and first among Division III competitors with a new ODAC-best time of 12.20 seconds. She narrowly sliced the record of 12.21 seconds set by Lorenda Abbott in 2000. She is now ranked eighth in Division III in the event. Miller also finished 33rd overall and second D-III in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.93 seconds, which is short of her second-best 25.75 time that currently ranks second in the conference.

Katelyn Senger, Bridgewater, Sr., Throws
April 03, 2017Senger, a senior from Bridgewater, Va., picks up her second straight weekly award after winning twice and finishing second twice in all four throws at the Jopson Invitational. Senger reset her own ODAC and Bridgewater school records in the discus with a heave of 44.49 meters (145' 11.0"), eclipsing the 43.81-meter throw she had in 2015. She also won the javelin after throwing the spear 30.90-meters (101' 4.0"). That ranks fourth in the ODAC. Senger added second place showings in the shot put and hammer throw, posting marks of 11.04 meters (36' 2.75") and 36.28 meters (119' 0.0"), respectively. Her shot put distance is third in the league, while her hammer throw is about a meter short of her previous season-best, which is also third on the conference charts.

Connor Faint, Eastern Mennonite, Jr., Hurdles/Sprints
April 03, 2017Faint, a junior from Winchester, Va., continued his progression thru the early outdoor track season at the VertKlasse Meeting. In an event that was largely populated by NCAA Division I and II athletes, Faint won the 400-meter hurdles with a new ODAC-best time of 52.33 seconds. That time broke a 35-year old school-record, eclipsing the 52.76 time posted by Burrell Fisher in 1982. Faint's time is currently ranked second in NCAA Division III.

Prescott Terrell, Bridgewater, Jr., Throws
April 03, 2017Terrell, a junior from Lynchburg, Va., put together a strong showing at the Jopson Invitational with a trio of strong throws. Terrell won the hammer throw with a toss of 49.55 meters (162' 7.0"), which now tops the ODAC by nearly four feet. He added a third place finish in the discus at 41.14 meters (135' 0.0"), which ranks fourth in the ODAC. Terrell capped his day by placing fourth in the shot put at 12.43 meters (40' 9.5").

Dana Lee, Washington and Lee, Sr., Sprints/Jumps
March 27, 2017Lee, a senior from Nashville, Tenn., stood out for a second straight week both on the track and in field events at the Dr. Jack Toms Invitational. On the track, Lee finished fourth overall and took over the ODAC's top spot with a time of 25.71 seconds in the 200-meter dash. That time is ranked 15the country. She also helped W&L to third in the 4x100-meter relay at 49.75 seconds, which is second in the ODAC. As for field events, Lee placed fifth overall in both the long and triple jumps. Her mark of 5.47 meters (17' 11.50") is second in the ODAC. She posted a best jump of 10.92 meters (35' 10.0") in the triple jump, which is second in the ODAC only to her previous season-best mark of 11.07 meters (36' 4.0").

Katelyn Senger, Bridgewater, Sr., Throws
March 27, 2017Senger, a senior from Bridgewater, Va., posted a trio of ODAC top-four marks in the throws at the Dr. Jack Toms Invitational. Senger shined in the discus, taking over the #1 spot in the league and winning the event with a heave of 41.30 meters (135' 6.25"). That is ranked sixth in NCAA Division III. Senger added a sixth place finish in the shot put at 11.00 meters (35' 1.25"), and chimed in ninth in the hammer at 37.26 meters (122' 3.25"). Those distances ranked fourth and third in the ODAC, respectively.

Evan Truman, Lynchburg, Sr., Sprints/Jumps
March 27, 2017Truman, a senior from Richmond, Va., put his name atop three events on the ODAC season rankings after a strong performance at the Dr. Jack Toms Invitational. On the track, Truman now owns the conference's fastest times in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes while also helping Lynchburg to an ODAC-best and event-winning 42.22-seconds in the 4x100-meter relay. He finished third in the 100-dash in 10.74 seconds, and was fourth in the 200-dash in 22.07 seconds. Both are personal-best times and ranked second and 15th in NCAA Division III, respectively. Truman also stood out in the long jump, tying for first in the event with an ODAC season-best leap of 7.03 meters (23' 0.75"). That is currently second in the country with Bridgewater's Brandon Christian, who tied Truman for the event victory.

Dash Dericks, Washington and Lee, Jr., Throws
March 27, 2017Dericks, a junior from Spring, Texas, picks up his second straight weekly award after another strong showing in the throws at the Dr. Jack Toms Invitational. Dericks won the discus competition with a throw of 45.59 meters (149' 3.0"), which is currently ranked 19th in the early NCAA Division III standings. Dericks also posted a top-three mark in the javelin, finishing fourth overall with a throw of 53.31 meters (174' 11.0"). That would be a top-three mark in the league rankings, just short of his previous season best of 55.90 meters.

Dana Lee, Washington and Lee, Sr., Sprints/Jumps
March 20, 2017Lee, a senior from Nashville, Tenn., starred in both track and field events at the W&L Carnival. Lee won the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.74 seconds. That ranks seventh in the early listings for NCAA Division III results. Lee also won the triple jump at 11.07 meters (36' 4.0"), which is fifth in D-III. Both marks top the early ODAC rankings.

Trevanna Berryman, Randolph, Jr., Throws
March 20, 2017Berryman, a freshman from Lynchburg, Va., placed her name atop two ODAC top rankings in the early going as part of a three-event performance at the W&L Carnival. Berryman won the discuss with a toss of 38.51 meters (126' 4.0") and chimed in third in the shot put at 10.89 meters (35' 8.75"). She also competed in the hammer throw, whipping the apparatus 22.38 meters (73' 5.0") to finish 19th overall.

Connor Faint, Eastern Mennonite, Jr., Hurdles/Sprints
March 20, 2017Faint, a junior from Winchester, Va., didn't take long to make a splash in the outdoor ranks with an event victory at the W&L Carnival. Faint won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.34 seconds, which is tops in the ODAC and currently #1 in the very early rankings of NCAA Division III. The mark would have ranked 18th in the country at season's end in 2016.

Dash Dericks, Washington and Lee, Jr., Throws
March 20, 2017Dericks, a junior from Spring, Texas, put his name atop the ODAC early season leaders in a pair of events in the throws at the W&L Carnival. Dericks won the javelin with a toss of 55.90 meters (183' 5.0"), which is just a bit more than six-feet better than the next closests ODAC competitor. Dericks was the top Division III finisher and second overall in the discus with a heave of 43.63 meters (143' 2.0"). His javelin mark is ninth and his discuss throw is 14th in the early D-III rankings.
