Grant Amoateng, Eastern Mennonite, Jr., Jumps/Sprints

Amoateng, a junior from Bristow, Va., continued his strong season in the jumps with four strong performances across two meets over the weekend. Amoateng opened at the Doc Jopson Invitational hosted by Bridgewater College. He won the triple jump at 13.96 meters (45-9.75), which ranks lower than only his personal season-best marks on the ODAC triple jump lists. He added a leap of 6.49 meters (21-3.50) to place second in the long jump. Then at the George Mason Spring Invitational, Amoateng exploded for a bounding leap of 14.71 meters (48-3.25) in the triple jump to place third overall in the large Divsion I dominated meet. That mark is sixth best in NCAA Division III, tops in the ODAC by more than three feet this season, and ranks as his new personal-best. He also improved his long jump from the previous day to 6.55 meters (21-6.00), placing third in the event. He season-high in that event is 6.79 meters (22-3.50).

Ryan Shepherd, BC: strengthened his grip on the best high jump mark in the ODAC at the Jopson Invitational by clearing 2.00 meters (6-6.75). That mark is 18th-best in Division III.

Dalton Hoppe, LC: made some moves in the throws at the WildCat Invitational hosted by Randolph College. Won the hammer and discus at 45.39m (148-11.00) and 40.74m (133-8.00) respectively. Placed fourth in both the shot put and javelin at 11.95m (39-2.50) and 45.72m (150-0.00). Now #2 in the ODAC in the hammer.

Kyle Bland, RC: finished second in the hammer at 34.05m (111-8.00) and third in the discus at 37.34m (122-6.00) at the WildCat Invitational.

Shep Sims, W&L: broke at 30-year old Washington and Lee record in the pole vault by clearing 4.77 meters (15-7.75) at the Phoenix Invitational hosted by Elon. He placed third overall in the event, increased his ODAC lead this season to 26-inches, and is now ranked 12th in the country.
