OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. --- Virginia Wesleyan lefty Hanna Hull became the ODAC single-season wins leader on Saturday afternoon as she recorded her 31st victory of the season with a 6-0 shutout of Illinois Wesleyan. The win advances the Marlins to a rematch with Texas-Tyler, which VWU needs to defeat twice to reached the best-of-three matchup with a yet to be determined team for a shot to hoist the national trophy.

The Marlins put up four runs in the first inning to take an early lead in the top of the frame. Kiersten Richardson reached on a walk before coming around to score on a Cassetty Howerin single. Blake Henderson followed with a sacrifice fly that scored Madison Glaubke from third after a lengthy delay as the grounds crew attended to the pitching circle.

Jessica Lindsay continued her hot streak at the plate in the tournament, driving home Teresa Cardamone and Howerin on a single to left-center.

The Marlins put the game away in the second inning. Howerin started the scoring with a sacrifice fly that plated Kaylah Duplain. Henderson finished the scoring with a double that hit toward the trademark of her bat, floating down the right field line for an RBI double that chased home Richardson.

Hull (31-3) went the distance in the circle, allowing three hits and three walks while striking out eight.

Virginia Wesleyan (50-3) has reached the 50-win plateau for the first time in school history and is the first ODAC school to do so. The Marlins will have a rematch with Texas-Tyler Sunday at 1 p.m. The Patriots defeated the Marlins 4-1 in the first game Thursday. Virginia Wesleyan will need to defeat Texas-Tyler twice to move to the championship series.
