Kelsi Martin, Eastern Mennonite, Fr., Pitcher

Martin, a freshman from Buena Vista, Va., put in some extra work in two appearances for this past week, helping the Royals earn a split with Roanoke. Martin went 8.0 strong innings before a walk-off blast by Sydney Reath finally ended the contest, 2-0, in Eastern Mennonite's favor. Martin surrendered just one hit over the contest, retiring the first 13 Maroons she faced and then 11 more in a row after allowing a one-out single in the fifth. She did not work a batter and fanned three in improving to 6-0 on the season. Martin lowered her earned run average to 1.54 despite being charged with three unearned runs in relief in game two (L, 8-0).

Softball Pitcher of the Week Honor Roll

Carolyn Campbell, BC: worked all seven frames in a 5-1 win over Guilford. Gave up one run on four hits with a walk.

Cameron Derr, E&H: went the distance in a 2-0 non-conference shutout at Covenant. Gave up three hits and walked two while fanning eight. Is now 7-0 on the season.

Katie McNeill, GC: worked both ends of the doubleheader split with Bridgewater, picking up a win in game one (8-6). Went 2.0 frames in that first outing, giving up one unearned run on one hit with a walk. Came back for 3.0 innings of shutout ball in game two (L, 5-1), scattering five hits with two strikeouts.

Candace Whittemore, R-MC: went the distance in a 5-0 victory over Shenandoah. Lowered her ERA to 0.66 by not allowing a run on six hits. She walked two and fanned 10.

Teresa Wagner, RC: worked 3.1 innings in relief of a 12-3 win over Southern Virginia. Gave up one run on two hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Got the win with 6.0 innings in a shortened complete game win (8-0) at Eastern Mennonite. Surrendered three hits and walked four with three strikeouts in that contest.

Carla Hall, VWU: went the distance in a 4-1 victory over Lynchburg. Gave up one run on five hits without a walk and two strikeouts.
