Sydney Layman, Bridgewater, Fr., Infielder

Layman, a freshman from Harrisonburg, Va., put together a strong two game set in a split on the road at Guilford to open ODAC play last week. Layman was 5-for-8 combined with a double, two homers, two runs driven in, three runs scored, and a stolen base. She finished the doubleheader with a .625/.625/1.500 slash line. Layman belted a pair of solo homers as part of a 3-for-4 day in game one (L, 8-6). She also stole a base in that outing. In game two, she went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored towards a 5-1 victory. For the season, Layman is hitting .350 with four doubles, two homers, and eight RBI.

Softball Player of the Week Honor Roll

Sydney Reath, EMU: put an end to an eight-inning affair against Roanoke with a two-run walk-off homer for a 2-0 vitory. Added a double in game two (L, 8-0).

Makayla Crawford, GC: went 4-for-8 in a 2-1 week for the Quakers. Was 4-for-5 with a walk and four RBI in a doubleheader split with Bridgewater. Doubled and homered with three RBI in an 8-6 win in game one. Drove in a run each in a win over Randolph (6-4) and a loss to Bridgewater (5-1) in game two.

Sarah Commons, LC: Went 2-for-2 in game one (L, 11-3) at Virgina Wesleyan doubling and smacking a three-run shot to drive in all three of LC's runs.

Kerstin Roth, R-MC: went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI in a sweep of Shenandoah. Was 2-for-2 with a double, three RBI, and a walk in a 5-0 win in game one. Stole a base and scored a run in a 2-1 victory in game two.
