Hanna Hull, Virginia Wesleyan, So., Pitcher

Hull, a sophomore from Chesterfield, Va., returns to the weekly awards circle following a 4-0 week on the rubber to improve to 24-0 on the season and help the nationally top-ranked Marlins to six victories on the week. Virginia Wesleyan is now 34-0 on the season and has 40 straight games dating back to last season. Hull won both ends of a doubleheader sweep of nationally fourth-ranked Christopher Newport to start her week. She gave up one run on four hits with a walk and nine strikeouts over five innings in an 11-1 win in game one. She came back for two innings of relief to win 5-4 in game two. She was a bit wild in that contest, walking four and giving up two runs on a homer, but also fanned four batters. Hull picked up her third win of the week with a one-hit shutout at Randolph, 3-0. She didn't walk a batter and fanned nine in a full seven frames. She capped her week starting both ends of a sweep of Shenandoah. She went the first three frames and didn't allow a hit as the Marlins staff registered a no-hitter over three pitchers. Hull walked one and struck out six in her time. She got the win with four innings in a 12-0 result in game two. She surrendered four hits and walked one with four more punchouts. For the season, Hull owns a 0.63 earned run average to go with 24 wins over 132.1 innings in the circle. She has struck out 207 batters and walked 28. She has already struck out 579 batters in her career, leaving her just two short of tying the ODAC record held by former Marlin righty Brittaney Brown.

Softball Pitcher of the Week Honor Roll

Alex Braun, E&H: went 3-0 in three appearances last week, including two starts. Worked 2.1 innings in a 13-10 win over GC in game one. Went the distance in game two, winning 5-1. Gave up one run on eight hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Registered her second complete effort in an 8-5 win over EMU. Gave up five runs (three earned) on eight hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

Julie Gough, GC: picked up a complete game win over Shenandoah, 7-1. Gave up one run on five hits with two walks and a punchout.

Kayley Cox, LC: went the distance in a 2-0 shutout of Roanoke. Surrendered three hits and walked two with four strikeouts in seven innings on the rubber.

Candace Whittemore, R-MC: came up one walk shy of registering a perfect game in a 4-0 shutout of Bridgewater in game one of R-MC's sweep. She free pass was the lone baserunner she allowed with six strikeouts in seven innings. The win marked her 13th of the year, second in the ODAC, and 14th complete game.

Emily Salsberry, RC: went 2-0 in a pair of conference starts last week. Went the distance in a 3-0 shutout at Randolph. Gave up three hits and walked two with three strikeouts. Went 6.2 innings in a 12-7 win at Lynchburg. Gave up five runs on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
