Rhoads, a freshman from Portsmouth, Va., put together a 3-0 performance over three starts in the last eight days to close the regular season and helped nationally fourth-ranked Randolph-Macon lock up the #2 seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament. Rhoads opened with the biggest win of the season for any Division III team as she toss a complete game to defeat nationally top-ranked Virginia Wesleyan, 2-1, marking the Marlins first loss of the season. She gave up one run on four hits with two walks and nine strikeouts. Rhoads followed that with the first two complete game shutouts in an 11-0 win at Roanoke. She allowed two hits and walked one while fanning 11 Maroons in a full seven frames. She capped her week with another two-hit shutout in a 5-0 win at Randolph in her last start of the regular season. She walked three and struck out seven in seven innings. Rhoads is now 12-0 on the season with an ODAC-best 0.52 earned run average to go with 118 strikeouts in 80.2 innings of work.

Softball Pitcher of the Week Honor Roll

Katie McNeil, GC: worked three times last week, going 1-1. Went uncathed thru two-thirds of an inning in a 3-2 loss to EMU. Went the distance for a 6-3 win at Pfeiffer. She gave up three runs (one earned) on eight hits with a walk and a strikeout in seven innings. Was saddled with the loss in 1-1 innings of work in a 2-1 loss at #4 Randolph-Macon. Gave up one unearned run on two hits.

Kayley Cox, LC: went 2-0 in two starts last week. Gave up two hits in six innings at Averett, helping LC to a 3-1 win. Walked one and struck out four. Worked a little extra for an 8-inning 1-0 shutout of Bridgewater. Again allowed just two hits without a walk and fanned five.

Lindsey Chaney, RAND: went 1-1 over the past eight days to close the regular season. Went the distance in an 8-5 win at Shenandoah. Gave up five runs (one earned) on five hits with a walk and six strikeouts. Took a 5-0 loss to Randolph-Macon in the second-to-last game of the season. Gave up five runs (four earned) on six hits with a walk and two strikeouts in a full seven frames.

Teresa Wagner, RC: went 2-1 last week in conference play. Went a full seven frames in a 4-3 win over Emory & Henry. Gave up three runs (one earned) on seven hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Took the loss in an 11-0 decision to #4 Randolph-Macon. Gave up seven runs on 10 hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Came back with a complete effort in a 4-3 win at Shenandoah. Gave up three runs (one earned) on four hits with six walks and six strikeouts.

Hanna Hull, VWU: went 3-1 last week in four starts. Struck out 15 batters over eight innings in a 2-1 win over #4 Randolph-Macon. Gave up one unearned run on two hits with a walk. Came back in game two and took the loss, 2-1, her first of the season. Gave up two runs on four hits with two walks and one strikeout in seven innings. Returned to the hill for a 5-3 win at Bridgewater. Gave up three runs on five hits with two walks and 13 strikeouts. Capped her week with a 3-1 win over Emory & Henry. Gave up one unearned run on two hits with three walks and seven strikeouts in her fourth complete effort of the week.
