GREENSBORO, N.C. | Washington and Lee junior Ali MacQueen set a new ODAC record and earned three full All-American awards on a very busy and successful day for Generals swimming at the second day of the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships in at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
The ODAC along with the Greensboro Sports Commission are serving as co-hosts with the GAC for this season's four-day national championship event. The conference is no stranger to the GAC as the ODAC hosts its championship in the facility over three days in mid-February.
AWARDS
- Ali MacQueen took home three All-American awards in the 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle relay, and 400-yard medley relay
- Patrick Sullivan earned All-American honors in the 200-yard freestyle
- Caroline Baber, Claudia Barnett, and Elle Chancey joined MacQueen in the earn All-America recognition in the 200-free relay
- Turner Bobbitt, Emily Hageboeck, and Barnett teamed with MacQueen to collect All-American laurels in teh 400-medley relay
RECORDS
- MacQueen set the ODAC and W&L records in the prelims of the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 0:54.58

Women's 100-Yard Butterfly Prelims | MacQueen set new ODAC and W&L records with a time of 0:54.58 to finish second overall- Women's 100-Yard Butterfly Finals | MacQueen tied for third overall with a time of 0:54.90; she tied with Caroline Apathy from Bates College
- Women's 400-Yard IM Prelims | Hageboeck and Baber both competed in the prelims and came up short of qualifying for either finals sesssion; Hageboeck finished 18th at 4;30.23, while Baber chimed in 25th at 4:35.46
- Men's 200-Yard Freestyle Prelims | Sullivan swam a career-best 1:38.30 to finish fourth and earn a spot in the championship finals
- Men's 200-Yard Freestyle Finals | Sullivan stopped the watches fifth overall at 1:38.57, earning full All-America honors after picking up Honorable Mention All-American in 2018
- Women's 200-Yard Freestyle Relay Prelims | MacQueen, Baber, Barnett, and Chancey finished seventh overall at 1:34.63 to earn a spot in the championship finals
- Women's 200-yard Freestyle Relay Finals | MacQueen, Baber, Barnett, and Chancey held suit and placed seventh at 1:34.77 to earn All-America status
- Women's 400-Yard Medley Relay Prelims | Bobbitt, Hageboeck, MacQueen, and Barnett qualified for the championship finals with a seventh-place time of 3:46.85
- Women's 400-Yard Medley Relay Finals | Bobbitt, Hageboeck, MacQueen, and Barnett collected All-American honors with an eighth place finish at 3:48.34
WHERE DOES THE TEAM STAND
- Washington and Lee is eighth in the women's team standings with 86.5 points thru the first two days of competition. Emory University leades with 254.0 points.
UP NEXT
- A trio Washington and Lee individuals -- Baber, Bobbitt, and Hageboeck -- will be joined by Roanoke's Reilly Bird in the lightest day of action for all athletes in the championship. Prelims begin at 10:00 a.m. ET with those that qualify for finals returning to action at 6:00 p.m. ET.
* Those that finish top-8 in the finals earn All-American honors. Those that finish 9-16 in the finals earn Honorable Mention All-American recognition. To qualify for a finals session, a swimming must finish inside the top-16 (consolation final) or top-8 (championship final) in the prelims.
