Swimming Back in Action Following Lay-off
It was an exciting weekend in both men's and women's basketball
as the ODAC standings start to take shape with teams entering into
the conference-heavy portions of their schedules. Swimming
also returned to action following its holiday lay-off with a pair
of meets in league action.
In men's basketball, D.J. Hinson led No. 24 Eastern Mennonite to a
pair of victories by averaging 28 points and canning 13-of-20 shots
from beyond the arc. In a win over Washington and Lee, the
junior wing went 12-of-15 from the field, hitting 7-of-9
three-pointers on the way to matching his career-high of 34
points. He later added 22 markers with six makes from
long-distance in a win over Roanoke.
On the women's side, Molly Ariail notched her third weekly honor
and second straight by leading Randolph-Macon to three conference
victories. R-MC handed Roanoke College its first ODAC loss of
the season on Friday night as Ariail collected 29 points and 10
rebounds while shooting 12-of-17 from the field. In the first
half of that contest, she accounted for 21 of Randolph-Macon's 30
points going into the intermission.
In swimming, Randolph-Macon's Lizzy Buckley helped the Yellow
Jackets post a 114-44 victory over Hollins in its first meet since
the holiday break. Buckley won the 50-yard freestyle and the
200-yard butterfly, posted times within the top-10 in the ODAC in
both events so far this season.
