HARRISONBURG, Va. --- It's been quite the
start to her junior season for Jess
Rheinheimer (Manheim, Pa./Lancaster
Mennonite). Eastern Mennonite's versatile forward has
dramatically stepped up her play this year, and after exploding for
41 points in a win on Saturday, she has now earned her second spot
on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week presented by Scoutware.
She was also named the National Player of the Week by the U.S.
Basketbal Writers Association. Each Tuesday, the USBWA
selects men's and women's Division III National Players of the
Week. This is the first season that the USBWA is recognizing
national players of the week from Division III.

Rheinheimer averaged 35.0 points
and 11.0 rebounds last week in wins over Christopher Newport and
Washington College. She set her career high with 29 points
and 12 rebounds in Tuesday's impressive 74-54 win at CNU.
Then she took over Saturday's game against the Shorewomen, dumping
in 26 second-half points en route to a new career high 41
points. She added 10 rebounds, three steals and two
blocks.
She was also named the ODAC Player of the Week for the
second time after notching the highest single-game point total in
the league since 2005. No one in Eastern Mennonite's program
history had scored more than 30 since 2001, when Emily Mullet had
47 in a game.
It's also the fifth-best total in the entire nation this season,
with Wheelock's Michelle Woods leading the way with a 47-point
effort. Rheinheimer, however, has been one of the more
consistent scorers in the nation, shooting 53% from the
floor. She has scored in double figures in all but one game
and put in 22 or more in five games, including four of the last
five outings.

Rheinheimer leads the ODAC in scoring (20.1 PPG), is fifth in
rebounding (8.1 RPG) and is top seven in six other major
categories.
Eastern Mennonite, 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the ODAC, heads to
Greensboro, N.C., on Wednesday for a big conference date at rival
Guilford. Tip-off is 6:00pm.
