Hollins Selects Logan as New Women's Basketball Head Coach

ROANOKE, Va. --- Hollins University Athletic Director Bill Mannino announces the hiring of Jenny Logan as the new head basketball coach.  Logan comes to Hollins with a rich ODAC pedigree, having been a four year player at Bridgewater College before serving as an assistant basketball coach at Lynchburg College.

“I am thrilled to become a member of the Hollins community.  The faculty, here, create an exceptional environment that promotes learning and growth in all areas of a liberal arts education and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the basketball program and the growth of our student-athletes.”

Logan was named to the position after an extensive, nationwide search and is slated to start on August 17th.  Vice-President for Academic Affairs Patricia Hammer is extremely pleased that Jenny is joining the Hollins athletic department.  “I am thrilled about the prospect of Jenny leading our program forward.”  Hammer continued, “We had a deep and talented pool of candidates with Logan rising to the top.  Jenny is the person to take the reigns of the Hollins basketball program and I have the utmost confidence that with her experience as a player and coach, she will be able improve our standing within the conference.  This is an exciting time for Hollins athletics! ”

During her time at Bridgewater, Logan earned All ODAC standing after averaging nine points, five rebounds, and over three assists a game during a senior season that saw the Shenandoah Valley native serve as team captain and starting point guard.  As a dual sport athlete for the Eagles, Logan showed the true spirit of a DIII student-athlete by not only excelling in athletics, but also in the classroom.  After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science degree, Logan headed off to ODAC rival Lynchburg College where she served as assistant coach and completed her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.

Mannino has been responsible for the hiring of three new coaches within the Hollins athletic department over the past 12 months.  “I was so impressed with Coach Logan’s competitiveness, work ethic, and winning attitude.”  Mannino added, “She has proven to be a grinder on the court as well as the recruiting trail and will bring, to our department, the same tenacity and leadership that she showed as an all-conference player. It is my firm belief that she [Logan] will be a perfect fit for Hollins.”

Logan most recently served as the assistant basketball coach at Mount St. Mary College in Newburugh, NY.  Last season, the Knights were able to bring in a seven player, first-year class while doubling their win total.

When asked about getting started, Logan responded, “I am looking forward to continuing to develop the Hollins women's basketball program into a strong contender in the very competitive ODAC.”

For the past six years, Logan has also served as an instructor for Point Guard College (PGC) Basketball, a nationally recognized basketball camp, where she has had the opportunity to coach and mentor young basketball players from all over the country.
