R-MC's Williams Highlights Postseason Women's Basketball Awards

FOREST, Va. --- Randolph-Macon College center Kelly Williams has been on the national radar all season. That focus extends to the postseason as she picked up a pair of All-American honors to lead the list of ODAC women's basketball stars earning postseason honors.

Williams was tabbed an All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), which awards one team of 10 players in addition to a large honorable mention list. Contrarily, D3hoops.com honors four teams of All-Americans plus an honorable mention squad. Williams was selected to the All-America First Team by the national pundit after featuring as its All-South Region Player of the Year.

Emory & Henry College forward Taylor Blevins, Lynchburg College forward Caroline Naumann, and Guilford College guard Lauren Ramsey also picked up postseason recognition. Naumann joined Williams with WBCA plaudits, earning a spot on the All-America Honorable Mention table. Blevins was selected to the All-South Region Second Team by D3hoops.com, while Ramsey was named to the All-South Region Third Team by the same outlet.

An additional special award went to Lynchburg assistant coach Lauren Hayden, who was tabbed to the WBCA's "Thirty Under 30" list of upcoming coaches spanning all Divisions of collegiate basketball.

Williams, a sophomore from Garysburg, N.C., had nothing short of a spectacular season in leading Randolph-Macon to the ODAC crown and the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Her awards case is already quite full from this season after garnering ODAC Player of the Year laurels, eight ODAC Player of the Week awards, and three Division III National Player of the Week assignments by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA). Williams set six ODAC single records in playing all 29 games for R-MC --- points (736), field goals made (269), free throws made (197), free throws attempted (304), rebounds (527), and rebounding average (18.2). Her 118 blocked shots are just two short of the tying the conference standard.

Already a 1,000-point career scorer, Williams led NCAA Division III in several categories including scoring average (25.4), total points, total rebounds, free throws made and attempted, field goals made, blocked shots, and double-doubles (28). She was second in rebounding average. Williams notched 10 games of 20 points and 20 rebounds or better, a list that includes seven outings of 30 or more points. That includes a Division III season-best tying 45 points in February at Guilford.

Blevins, a junior from Abingdon, Va., received recognition from D3hoops.com for the second time in her career after earning All-South Region Rookie of the Year honors in 2016. Blevins averaged 12.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.3 steals on the way to All-ODAC First Team laurels. She scored in double figures 21 times and reached 1,000 points for her career in mid-February. She also earned a spot on the ODAC All-Tournament Team after leading the Wasps to the program's first title game appearance since 2001.

Naumann, a senior from Mechanicsville, Va., led the Hornets to their third straight 20-win season by ranking seventh in the ODAC in scoring (15.5) and third in rebound (9.7). She pulled down the second-most defensive rebounds (252) in the league and made the second-most free throws (128). She was third in offensive rebounds (77) and sixth in total points (404). The two-time All-ODAC selection and 2017 ODAC Tournament MOP finished her career seventh in program history in scoring (1,154) and fifth in rebounds (793). She is also top-five in free throw made (302) and attempted (447).

Ramsey, a senior from Lexington, N.C., is a three-time All-ODAC standout with this season's first team selection coming on the heels of two straight third team appointments. Ramsey was a triple-double threat each time out, ranking fifth in the ODAC in scoring (16.3), ninth in rebound (7.2), and second in total assists (102). She was second in the league in steals (59) and minutes played per game (35.8), third in field goals made (158), an fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5). Ramsey made her mark in the Quakers' record books, tying for the most gamed played (106) in program history. She will graduate ranked third in minutes played (3207), eight in assists (311) and field goals made (489), ninth in blocked shots (47), and 11 in points scored (1,204).
