Virginia Wesleyan Names DeSalvia Women's Lacrosse Head Coach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. --- Virginia Wesleyan University Executive Director of Athletics Tina Hill has named Nicole DeSalvia the Marlins new Head Women's Lacrosse Coach.

DeSalvia makes her way to Virginia Beach, Va. after a two-year stint at William Peace University. A start-up program, DeSalvia used the 2018 season to recruit and build the program. In the inaugural year (2019), she led the Pacers to a 10-5 season and a berth into the USA South Conference Championship.

"Coach DeSalvia has a deep passion for coaching talented student-athletes, both on and off the field," Tina Hill remarked. "Her enthusiasm and love of the game is contagious, and has a strong desire to see student-athletes be successful in all aspects of their lives. The Marlins are in good hands under her leadership."

Prior to William Peace, DeSalvia was the Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach at Methodist University. There, her primary focus was working with the defensive schemes as well as the goalies. A native of Syracuse, N.Y., she also coached the Manlius Pebble Hill High School Girls Lacrosse team in 2014.

"Being able to continue my growth as a collegiate coach in the ODAC was an opportunity I couldn't pass up," exclaimed DeSalvia. "I think that Virginia Weslyean is a great environment to bring motivated student athletes who want to get the most out of their college experience."

DeSalvia graduated with a Bachelor's in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland in 2012 before earning her Master's in Physical Education from the same institution in 2015.
