In the first of our spring sport season wrap-ups, we take a look at what happened prior to the close of the campaign and what could have been on the horizon for the ODAC's women's lacrosse programs.

In the next installment of "Saluting the Class of 2020," the ODAC features its senior student-athletes that competed in women's lacrosse.

Several ODAC teams and athletes were in action last week before play throughout the NCAA was halted. Those earning weekly honors include (heads, top-bottom, left-right): Jeffrey Snider from Bridgewater baseball, Emily Davis from Eastern Mennonite softball, Brandon Pond from Lynchburg baseball, Megan Scalley from Shenandoah softball, Colin DiSesa from Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse, Alyson Bittinger from SU women's lacrosse, Ruth de Souza from Sweet Briar women's tennis, and Juan Borga from LYN men's tennis.

Eighth-ranked Wesleyan (Conn.) scored the final five goals of the game to defeat the second-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team, 13-7, on Saturday in the NCAA Regional Semifinals at Gettysburg College.

The second-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team ended the first half with 14 consecutive goals on its way to an 18-9 victory over 20th-ranked Ithaca on Sunday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Watt Field.

Washington and Lee University earned all five major individual honors and took home a league-best nine all-conference laurels to headline the 2019 All-ODAC Women's Lacrosse Awards. Haley Tucker and Caitlin Anderson top the chart as the ODAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively. Generals' mentor Brooke O'Brien earned ODAC Coach of the Year recognition, while attack Katherine Faria received ODAC Rookie of the Year distinction. Fellow attack Cordelia Peters garnered ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete honors from the league's sports information directors.

The eighth-ranked York women's lacrosse team jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back in claiming a 10-3 victory over 10th-ranked Washington and Lee in the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Sunday afternoon at Kinsley Field.

The 10th-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team tied the program record for goals in a game with 27 en route to producing a 27-7 victory over Cabrini in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday in a neutral-site contest at York (Pa.) College.

For the first time in league history, ODAC women's lacrosse has moved to pair of top player awards to lead its annual All-ODAC Women's Lacrosse Awards. Washington and Lee University attacker Jess Castelo is the first ODAC Offensive Player of the Year, while Roanoke College defender Emma Boris is the first ODAC Defensive Player of the Year. Generals mentor Brooke O'Brien took home ODAC Coach of the Year honors from her peers, while Shenandoah University midfielder Alyson Bittinger earned ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels. Lynchburg College midfielder Dorrie MacGregor was tabbed the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete by the conference's sports information directors.

Virginia Wesleyan University has turned to an experienced head coach to lead its women's lacrosse program with the announcement of 2017 USA South Coach of the Year Kendyl Clarkson as the new Marlin mentor.

First-year midfielder Alexandria Fitzpatrick scored with 4.7 seconds remaining in the first half of the second overtime, as The College of New Jersey, the nation's top-ranked team, defeated the second-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team, 5-4, on Saturday at Kerr Stadium in the NCAA Semifinals.

Senior attacker Hayley Soutter (McLean, Va. / Langley) scored with 1:24 remaining in overtime to lead the Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team to a 7-6 victory over William Smith in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon at Watt Field.

Sweet Briar College athletic director Teresa Boylan has announced the hiring of Meredith Newman ’09, as the new head coach of the Vixen lacrosse program. Newman will return to Sweet Briar from Augustana College in Illinois, where she headed the women’s lacrosse program for the last two seasons.

Roanoke College attacker Claire Feeney headlines ODAC honorees by the IWLCA as the 2016 ODAC Player of the Year earned recognition as a Third Team All-American. Feeney was the lone conference athlete to pick up All-America laurels, but she is one of seven to receive all-region accolades.

Senior attacker Katherine Doraty scored five goals to lead the Mount Union women's lacrosse team to an 11-10 win over 17th-ranked Washington and Lee in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Tylus Field at Franklin & Marshall.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2014-15 ODAC Sportsmanship Teams in each of the 17 winter and spring sports sponsored by the conference. This marks the sixth year the league has recognized these fine student-athletes for their excellence in sportsmanship.

The 17th-ranked Fredonia women's lacrosse team used a three-goal run in the second half to pull away for a 9-5 win over 10th-ranked Washington and Lee on Saturday afternoon in the regional round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at Tylus Field.

Guilford College attack E'leyna Garcia and Washington and Lee University attack Margaret Klein and defender Leanne Stone highlight the ODAC's contingent of honored student-athletes by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association. Each standout earned IWLCA Third Team All-American accolades, while nine other players earned IWLCA All-Chesapeake Region laurels.

Fourth-ranked TCNJ used a 9-5 lead in the first half to pull ahead of the 12th-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team and claim a 13-7 win over the Generals on Saturday afternoon in the NCAA Division III Tournament regional round at Pratt Field.

The 12th-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team advanced to the regional round of the NCAA Tournament after posting a 13-5 victory over the Denison Big Red on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field. With the win, W&L (17-2) has tied the program's record for wins in a season.

Ninth-ranked York (Pa.) used a 10-4 lead in the first half to pull well ahead of the Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team and claim a 13-6 win on Wednesday in NCAA Division III Tournament first round action at Kinsley Field.

Four ODAC schools will continue their seasons into the NCAA postseason this week as first round competition begins in the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Lacrosse Tournaments. Washington and Lee will be the conference's lone participant on the women's side, while the Generals are joined by Roanoke and Lynchburg in the men's bracket. Opening games in both tourneys begin on Wednesday.

Mary Washington scored the first nine goals of the second half to produce a 16-8 victory over Washington and Lee in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at the Battleground Athletic Complex. W&L season comes to a close with a 15-5 overall record, having won its 13th ODAC title.

Four ODAC student-athletes were named All-Americans by the IWLCA on Friday. W&L's Emmy Mathews, LC's Christina Tran, and RC's Gina Valles (pictured) were tabbed to the second team, while the Generals' Wilton Megargel was selected to the third team.

A late second-half rally came up short as the No. 15 Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team fell to No. 5 Salisbury, 13-12, on Saturday afternoon at Sea Gull Stadium in Salisbury. With the loss, the Generals end their season with a 15-5 overall record.

The No. 15 Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team earned its first NCAA Tournament win since the 2006 season as it defeated Christopher Newport University, 15-6, in first round action on Wednesday afternoon at Watt Field. The Generals head to Salisbury on Saturday for their second round contest.

Roanoke midfielder Gina Valles earned her second All-America award in as many seasons through an annual vote by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). The only ODAC student-athlete on the list, Valles improved upon her 2009 second team showing as she was named to the 2010 IWLCA All-America First Team.

Washington and Lee University saw its comeback bid fall a goal short as the Generals fell to Elizabethtown College, 13-12, in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament. Washington and Lee trailed 13-9 with just under eight minutes to play, but went on a 3-0 run to pull within one with 2:43 to go, one short of forcing overtime.

Washington and Lee will be the only representative from the ODAC in the 2010 NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, as announced in the tourney’s selection show on Sunday evening. The Generals, ranked 15th in the nation, defeated Lynchburg, 14-6, to claim its 11th conference crown. W&L opens with Elizabethtown in the NCAA first round.

Sophomore midfielder Gina Valles added to her post-season accolades as she was named to the 2009 IWLCA Div. III All-America Second-Team. She is the sixth player this decade and the first since Katlyn Scarlett (2007) to receive this honor.

The IWLCA recently announced its 2009 Division III All-America teams and Washington and Lee senior midfielder Kelsi Robinson garnered third-team laurels.

No. 7 Gettysburg defeated #17 Roanoke, 15-6, in game two of the NCAA Div. III Women’s Lacrosse Regional Semifinals Saturday afternoon at Lions Field. The Maroons end their season with a 16-5 record.

Washington and Lee added a couple top individual awards to their sixth straight ODAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship with Kat Michaels being named Player of the Year and Brooke Diamond receiving Coach of Year honors.

ODAC Women’s Lacrosse Tournament Set

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced the pairings for the 2008 Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament and Washington and Lee earned a first-round bye. The Generals will play the winner of Amherst and Endicott at Franklin & Marshall on Sat., May 10.

Washington and Lee Interim Athletic Director Chuck O'Connell has announced the appointment of Brooke Diamond as head women's lacrosse coach and assistant professor of physical education. Diamond will begin her duties effective July 1.

In its 258-year history, Washington and Lee University has appointed only six athletic directors. The seventh, announced April 24, will be the first woman to hold the position. Janine Hathorn, who has been assistant director of athletics at W&L since 2002 and women’s lacrosse coach since 1987, will start her new position July 1, 2007.

Junior midfielder Megan Slosson recorded five goals and junior goalkeeper SarahTilbor registered a season-high 13 saves as top-seeded and 20th-ranked Washington and Lee won its fifth-straight ODAC Championship with a 10-4 victory over third-seeded Roanoke in the finals of the ODAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Sunday afternoon at Watt Field.
