Lynchburg's Dupuy Sets ODAC Scoring Record in Win Over Bridgewater

80th Career Goal Puts Her Atop the League Charts

FOREST, Va. --- Lynchburg College forward Dessi Dupuy notched her third goal of the season on Saturday, helping the Hornets defeat Bridgewater College, 5-1, in the ODAC opener for both squads.  This particular tally for the LC standout had a little more meaning to it than others as it marked her 80th career goal, making her the ODAC's all-time career goals scored leader.

Dupuy, a senior from Lynchburg, Va., takes over the top spot from former LC star Karen O'Connor, who tallied 79 times from 1996-99.  Dupuy's mark follows has come via three years of consistent production, which resulted in the ODAC Player of the Year award in 2013.  She entered the 2014 campaign needing three goals to hoist herself into #1 position.  The three-time All-ODAC First Team selection earned ODAC Rookie of the Year honors in 2011 thanks to 27 goals and six assists.  She again reached the back of the net 27 times in 2012, also racking up six helpers.  Last season, she recorded 23 goals along with seven assists.

Saturday's game was a major fixture on the ODAC schedule as the two regionally-ranked squads looked to continue their overall early season success.  LC owned a 4-0 record, while BC came in at 4-1.  Lynchburg found its footing in the 20th minute as Angela Bosco knocked in the first of three goals she'd score on the afternoon.  LC tacked on one more in the 45th minute as Morgan Singer deposited one past the Eagles' keeper off a feed from Dupuy.

Bosco made it 4-0 Hornets a third of the way into the second frame as she scored in the 55th and 63rd minutes.  That set the stage for Dupuy's career-setting goal as she deposited home a service from Singer in the 75th minute.

Bridgewater got on the scoreboard 8:36 from time as Julie Baca tucked in a shot to the upper-right corner in the 82nd minute, bringing about the game's final result.
