Marlins Bow Out of NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament in Second Round

SWARTHMORE, Va. --- The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team dropped its contest with Swarthmore College, 3-0, Sunday afternoon in the Second Round of the Division III NCAA National Championship. The Marlins conclude their season with a record of 12-5-4, making their third-straight appearance in the National Tournament.

Virginia Wesleyan found themselves in a hole early as the Garnet netted a goal just over a minute into the contest. The opposition would then double their lead on a corner kick 15 minutes before the halftime intermission. The second half did not differ much as the squad surrendered one more before the final whistle.

The Marlins found themselves with a couple of set piece opportunities throughout the contest, but were unable to connect on them.

Despite the outcome, Tristen Roberts had a decent outing between the pipes as her nine saves were just one save shy of her season high.
