Logan, a junior from Culloden, W.Va., led Hollins to a 1-1 week with the loss coming in a tight 5-4 overtime decision against Emory & Henry. In that game, she notched HU's first goal to tie the score 1-1 in the 25th minute. Logan continued her week with four goals as Hollins exploded for a 9-2 win over Eastern Mennonite. After HU had twice gone ahead only to see EMU tie the game at 2-all, Logan scored HU's third, fourth, sixth and seventh goals break the game open. Logan, who entered the season with eight career tallies, has already scored seven goals this season as she paces Hollins with 16 points.
Women's Soccer Honor Roll
Melanie Waters, Bridgewater (Va.) -
(Jr, F - Pasadena, Md., 18)
Waters led BC to a 1-1 week as she scored both Bridgewater goals
Saturday to lead the Eagles to a 2-0 victory over Roanoke. The
victory was the first-ever for BC over the Maroons. Waters scored
on a PK in the 65th minute to break a 0-0 tie. She added an
insurance goal in the 81st minute for the final 2-0 margin. Waters
ranks fifth in the ODAC in goals with eight and tied for third in
points with 21.
Kara Schaffer, Lynchburg - (So, M - Ellicott City,
MD, 4)
Schaffer scored the first goal of the second half for the Hornets
before assisting on another to help propel LC past Guilford, 5-0,
in Lynchburg's 1-1 week. Her defensive abilities at midfield were a
key in keeping Washington and Lee without a goal in a scoreless
draw on Saturday.
Erin Hauser, Randolph-Macon - (Sr, F - Keswick, VA,
17)
Hauser led the Yellow Jackets to a 1-1 record last week, scoring
the only R-MC goals in both games. Against Mary Washington, Hauser
led the team with one goal off of four total shots in a 4-1
setback. Against Guilford, Hauser scored the game's lone goal with
just seven seconds left on the clock in the first half to secure
the 1-0 victory over the Quakers. Hauser leads R-MC with 10 goals
so far this season.
Carmen Graves, Roanoke - (Sr, MF - Christiansburg,
VA, 18)
Graves scored two goals in the Maroons 1-1 week. On Tuesday,
Graves notched a pair of goals in a 4-0 win over Randolph.
Missy Volonino, Shenandoah - (Jr, - Rochester, NY,
7)
Volonino notched a pair of goals in an 8-2 win over Randolph in
the Hornets only game of the week.
Lynn Lunde, Sweet Briar - (Fr, F - Dallas, Tex.,
18)
In the Vixens only outing of the week, Lunde recorded her first
career and the team's first goal of the 2012 season. The tally
forced a double-overtime tie with visiting Eastern Mennonite.
The result also marks SBC's first point in the conference standings
this season.
Jessica Edelman, Va. Wesleyan - (Sr, F - Vorhees,
N.J., 3)
Edelman led VWC to a 2-0 week with victories over Shenandoah and
Emory & Henry. She was key to the offense against E&H
recording assists on the first two goals and scoring the Marlins'
fourth goal of the game in a 5-1 win. She now has four goals
overall and leads the team with eight assists.
