Mertens, a senior from Succasunna, N.J., picks up her second weekly award after registering a five-point week in the Hornets 2-0 showing versus non-league opponents. She struck the first time just after halftime against Emory University as she finished a feed from Rachel Cooke in the 55th minute in what would become a 1-0 triumph for Lynchburg. Mertens was featured twice on the scoresheet in a 4-0 victory over Sewanee. She assisted Kennedy Jakubek on the game's opening goal in the 39th minute, and then beat the keeper in the 56th minute for the contest's third tally as Jakubek returned the favor with the assist. For the season, Mertens is third in the ODAC in points (11) and second in goals scored (5).
