The top two players from Washington and Lee University womens tennis will be pulling double duty over the weekend at the NCAA Division III Womens Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships. Senior Lauren Caire and sophomore Ellen Yeatman will be competing in both brackets at the three-day event hosted by the University of Mary Washington.

They each lost their singles matches, and then fell in the doubles portion of the bracket.
The sixth-ranked Washington and Lee womens tennis team fell to fourth-ranked Emory University, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon in the third round of the NCAA Womens Division III Tournament at the Woodruff Physical Education Center on the campus of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. A day earlier, W&L defeated Vassar, 5-0.
The NCAA announced its field for the Division III Womens Tennis Tournament on Monday evening and Washington and Lee University earned the sixth-overall seed in the national tournament. W&L, currently 18-5 this season and ranked sixth in the nation, earned its 17th consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament after claiming its 20th ODAC championship.
W&L placed a student-athlete at each flight of the first team in the 2010 ODAC Womens Tennis All-Conference Teams. Lauren Caire was named the ODAC Player of the Year, while Eric Ishida took home the top coaching award. Hollins saw Karen Montoya tabbed as the best freshman and Sarah Budrus honored with the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award.
The sixth-ranked and top-seeded Washington and Lee women's tennis team claimed a 5-0 victory over No. 2 seed Hollins in the championship match of the ODAC Tournament on Monday morning. The win marks the Generals 20th ODAC crown. They also received the ODAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which begins on May 14.
Washington and Lee will try to make it an even 20 wins of the ODAC womens tennis crown over the weekend as the Generals (15-5 overall, 10-0 ODAC) enter play in the 2010 ODAC Womens Tennis Tournament as the top seed. Winner of the past seven conference championships, W&L is followed closely into the postseason by second seeded Hollins (13-2, 9-1).
Washington and Lee collected 121 total points and received all 11 first place votes in the 2010 ODAC Womens Tennis Preseason Poll. Bridgewater locks down the second position after picking up 90 points, while Virginia Wesleyan and Hollins are tight for third place with 84 and 83 points, respectively.
Ed Kahn, a well-known individual in the Hampton Roads tennis loop for nearly 30 years, has been named the Director of Tennis by VWC. Kahn was on staff last season as the assistant coach. He now takes over the Director's spot vacated by Frank Early.
