Hollins Names Alex Kosicki as Tennis Head Coach

HOLLINS, Va. --- Director of Athletics Myra Sims is pleased to announce the hiring of Alex Kosicki to lead the Hollins tennis program. After a nationwide search, Kosicki is scheduled to take over the day-to-day operations of the program on August 6th.

Coach Kosicki comes to Hollins after serving as the Head Tennis Coach at Wesleyan College (Macon, Ga.) since 2016. During his tenure at Wesleyan, Kosicki was responsible for all aspects of the NCAA DIII tennis program. Some of the highlights from his time with the Wolves include; 2017 USA South Conference Sportsmanship Award, 2017 ITA Regional Community Service and Outreach Award, ITA All-Academic Team, seven different players earned ITA All-Academic status, and his tennis team won the Wesleyan Team GPA Award with a cumulative 3.55 GPA. In addition to his tennis duties, Kosicki also served as the Head Cross Country coach when the college brought back the program after a four year hiatus.

Prior to his time at Wesleyan, Kosicki served as the Men's and Women's Associate Head Tennis coach at Western New England University (Springfield, Mass.) The teams at WNEU won over 100 matches during his eight year tenure. From 2013-16 coach Kosicki also worked at Holyoke Community College where he served as the Head Women's Basketball Coach and a year as the Interim sports Information Director.

Sims on the experience that Kosicki brings to Hollins. "With more than 10 years of experience in Division III tennis, Alex brings all the experience and knowledge that Hollins needs right now.  Hollins enjoyed tremendous success in the sport of tennis in the recent past and I am confident that Alex is the right person to lead the program into the next era of success."

Kosicki is a 2008 graduate of Springfield College, earning a B.S. in General Studies with a Minor in Business Management and a Concentration in Recreation Management. Kosicki was a four-year member of the Pride tennis team while completing his undergraduate work.
