NEWPORT, R.I. --- The No. 15 Washington and Lee women's tennis team completed its trip to the 2018 Hall of Fame International Tennis Association (ITA) Grass Court Invitational on Sunday with a pair of singles matches.
First-years Taylor Garcia (Mandeville, La./Mount Carmel Academy) and Georgia Wright (Austin, Texas/Regents School of Austin) faced off against each other in singles play with Garcia earning the win, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (4). Sophomore Valerie Marshall (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) concluded her weekend of singles action with a loss to No. 1 Emory's Jessica Fatemi, 6-2, 6-3.
The Generals will get back on the court on Saturday when they compete at the ITA Southeast Region Championships hosted by Mary Washington.
