FOREST, Va. --- The University of Lynchburg and Sweet Briar College each collected one special individual honor and six all-conference team selections to headline the 2022 All-ODAC Women's Tennis Awards. Washington and Lee University and Shenandoah University matched with four all-conference team picks each, while the Generals secured the remaining two special awards.
W&L sophomore Gabi Moss earned ODAC Player of the Year distinction, while Generals mentor Erin Ness garnered ODAC Coach of the Year laurels. The league's coaches also honored Sweet Briar first-year Ana Patino as the ODAC Rookie of the Year, while the conference's athletic communications personnel tabbed Lynchburg junior Elizabeth Teefey as the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
There is plenty of new talent appearing on this season's charts compared with the 2021 All-ODAC lists. Eight total athletes earned all-league status for a second straight year. W&L's Moss is an All-ODAC First Team pick for a second time, while SBC's Allison Wandling is a repeat honoree at first team singles and doubles along with partner Ruth de Souza. De Souza is an All-ODAC Second Team singles selection for a second time.
Lynchburg's Alissa Anderson is a first team doubles pick for the second year running while also securing her second straight second team singles assignment. Teammate and former ODAC Player of the Year Christina Harris appears on the second team singles list this season after a first-team appointment in 2021. She also repeats as a second team doubles player. Vixens sophomore Isabela Guilarte is also a second team single choice after appearing on the first team last year. Roanoke College doubles tandem Lucy Collins and Halle Fernstrum are second teamers for a second time.

Moss, a sophomore from Paradise Valley, Ariz., enjoys her second special award after being named the ODAC Rookie of the Year last season. Moss went 5-0 in singles play against ODAC opponents this season, dropping just one overall set in posting her unbeaten mark. She also went 5-0 in ODAC doubles matches, pairing up with Taylor Garcia twice, Becket Waters twice, and Margaret Carlton. Those tandems only dropped two sets in five outings. Overall, Moss is 14-7 in all singles matches and 10-4 with various partners in doubles action.
Ness is in her 10th year guiding the Generals women's tennis program. This her sixth ODAC top coaching award, pairing it with recognition she received from the league's coaches in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019. Washington and Lee is currently ranked 21st in Division III and fifth in the Atlantic South Region in polls administered by the ITA. W&L claimed its 19th straight and 31st overall ODAC women's tennis title last weekend. The Generals will be hosting early round competition this weekend in the Division III Team Tournament. It was also announced on Wednesday that former ODAC Player of the Year and 2021 ITA All-American Taylor Garcia earned a spot in the Division III Singles Tournament.
Patino, a first-year from Medellín, Colombia, pairs this honor with a selection to the All-ODAC First Team at #2 singles. Patino immediately made an impact in Sweet Briar's ever-improving lineup, helping the Vixens far surpass their previous record (16) for team wins in a season by going 23-4 through their appearance in the ODAC championship match. Patino went 6-1 overall in ODAC singles matches and posted a 5-2 record with five different partners in conference doubles play. Overall, she went 15-5 in all singles matches and 18-5 overall in doubles contests with six different partners.
Teefey, a junior from Amelia, Va., is the second straight student-athlete from Lynchburg to win this honor (Ellen Druebbisch, 2021). She pairs this honor with an All-ODAC First Team selection at #3 singles and at #2 doubles with partner and sister Grace Teefey. In the classroom, Elizabeth maintains a 3.996 grade point average as a nursing major. The five-time Lynchburg Dean's List member was named the Lynchburg Female Academic Athlete of the Year in 2020 and 2021. She earned both the Hopwood Academic Scholarship and Sigler Academy Scholarship. She serves as a Peer Assisted Supplemental Study Leader, tutoring classmates in chemistry. Teefey is certified in basic life support (BLS) as a certified nurse aide and lifeguard. She volunteered at the Crewe Medical Center, Women's Health, and CrossOver Healthcare Ministries.
On the court, Teefey went 8-0 in ODAC singles matches including 7-0 at #3 singles. She and Grace posted an 8-1 mark at #2 doubles in league matches. Overall, Elizabeth went 21-1 in all singles matches with a 13-0 record at #3. She went 20-4 in all doubles matches with a 19-4 record with Grace.
