Maria Hawkins, Bridgewater, So., No. 1 Singles, No. 1 Doubles

Hawkins, a sophomore from Silver Spring, Va., picks up her second weekly award after leading Bridgewater to two conference wins last week.  Hawkins went 3-0 at #1 singles and 2-0 at #1 doubles as the Eagles went 2-1 against Hollins (7-2), Randolph (4-5) and Lynchburg (7-2).  Hawkins earned a 6-3, 6-2 singles win over Hollins, and folowed by losing just three total games in victories over Randolph's (6-0, 6-2) and Lynchburg's (6-0, 6-1) top flight players.  In doubles action with partner Marla O'Bryan, Hawkins won 8-2 over both HU and RAND, while the doubles match against LC was defaulted to the Eagles.

Women's Tennis Honor Roll

Heather Parra, Randolph (So. - Wilmington, N.C.)
Parra won both of her matches at #4 singles and then two more at #2 doubles as the WildCats went 2-0 last week with wins over Bridgewater (5-4) and Ferrum (9-0).  Parra won 6-1, 6-3 and 6-0, 6-0 in singles play, while joining Sarah Parker for 8-2 and 8-0 victories in doubles play.

Angelina Sportelli, Randolph-Macon (Sr. - Mechanicsville, Va.)
Sportelli helped R-MC to 9-0 wins over Trinity and William Peace last week.  She did not drop a game in winning both her #1 singles showdowns, and joined Kelsie Grice for 8-1 and 8-0 triumphs at #1 doubles.

Sonja Meighan, Washington and Lee (Sr. - McLean, Va.)
Meighan aided the 11th-ranked Generals in their 8-1 win over 20th-ranked Skidmore.  She won 6-3, 6-1 at #1 singles and partnered with Patricia Kirkland to win 8-3 at #1 doubles.
