ODAC Women's Tennis Players of the Week Archive

Ryhsen, a junior from Dusseldorf, Germany, collects her first ODAC weekly honor after helping Averett to four team victories with a pair of ODAC triumphs. Ryhsen split time between #1 and #2 flights in both singles and doubles play with three different double partners. In an 8-1 team win over Division II foe Shaw University, Ryhsen partner with Keira Gunning at #1 doubles. They dropped an 8-2 result to Dana Moreno and Prerana Koirala with the latter from SU topping Ryhsen, 6-2, 6-2, at #2 singles. In a 9-0 Cougars triumph at Pfeiffer University, Ryhsen defeated Eilthe Hudson, 6-2, 6-0, at #2 singles. She and Alejandra Garcia won, 8-4, at #2 doubles over Hudson and Riley Isley. In an 8-1 team victory over Hollins, Ryhsen and Amelie Brune posted an 8-0 win over Peyton Jones and Charlie Miller at #2 doubles. Ryhsen dropped a tight 3-6, 6-1, 9-11 top-flight singles match to Jessica Willebeek-LeMair. Averett capped its week with an 8-1 win over Virginia Wesleyan. Ryhsen and Garcia won 8-3 over Christine Zalameda and Shannon Lewes at #2 doubles. Ryhsen defeated Zalameda, 6-1, 6-0, at #2 singles. Ryhsen is 11-7 in all singles matches including 5-3 in ODAC play. She is 17-5 in doubles play with multiple partners.

Combs, a junior from Suffolk, Va., picks up her second weekly award of the year after helping Shenandoah improve to 6-2 in the ODAC standings with two more remaining before conference postseason play. Combs continued her run as the Hornets #1 singles player and doubles tandem with Lily Kimble as they helped SU top Virginia Wesleyan, 8-1, and Ferrum, 9-0, in a pair of home matches. Combs and Kimble downed VWU's duo of Maya Brown and Kristina Abrams, 8-0, with Combs adding a second point with a 6-2, 7-5 triumph over Christine Zalameda. Against Ferrum, Combs had her singles match cut short when her opponent Tennessee Phillips retired with Combs leading, 5-0, in the first set. In doubles play, Combs and Kimble defeated Phillips and Emma Loughrey, 8-0. For the season, Combs is 12-4 in all singles matches including 11-3 at #1. She and Kimble are 8-3 as a doubles team, all from the top flight.

Long, a first-year from Carmel, Ind., picks up her second ODAC weekly honor in as many weeks after helping nationally 25th-rank Washington and Lee to three of its four team victories last week. Long went 6-0 at top flight singles and doubles play with the Generals posting 9-0 victories over Averett, at 33rd-ranked Christopher Newport, and at Virginia Wesleyan. W&L also topped Shenandoah, 7-2, in a fourth match. Long partner with Gabi Moss as a fairly new doubles pairing in all three matches. They posted an 8-3 win over Averett's Keira Gunning and Brenda Poulikidas. Long added a 6-3, 6-2 victory in singles play. Rated second in the Atlantic South Region, Long defeated regionally fifth-ranked Raine Weis from CNU, 6-4, 6-0. She and Moss posted an 8-7 (9-7) win over Weis and Tessa Trate, the third-ranked duo in the region. W&L's duo earned an 8-1 win over Alexa Brewster and Christine Zalameda from VWU. Long collected a 6-1, 6-1 win over Brewster in singles action. Long has now won eight straight singles matches to improve her record to 12-3 overall with a 10-2 mark at #1. She and Moss are 4-0 as a doubles team. Long is 14-8 overall in doubles matches including 9-5 from the top flight.

Long, a first-year from Carmel, Ind., went 4-0 in top-flight singles and doubles action as she helped nationally 22nd-ranked Washington and Lee to a pair of team victories to improve the Generals season record to 7-4 in all dual matchups and 4-0 in league play. Long played doubles with two different partners. She paired with Margaret Carlton in W&Ls 7-2 win over Bridgewater. The duo won 8-0 over Emma Nesselrodt and Ryan Roeber. Long added a second point with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Nesselrodt in singles action. Long was joined by Gabi Moss at #1 doubles in the Generals 8-1 team victory over Franklin & Marshall College. The tandem topped Cassidy Landau and Mackenzie Sherman, 8-3, with Long trouncing Landau, 6-1, 6-1, in singles action. Long is now 9-3 overall this year including 7-2 from the #1 position. She is 11-8 overall in doubles matches.

Garcia, a senior from Mandeville, La., went 6-0 combined between top-flight singles and doubles play to lead Washington and Lee to a trio of ODAC team victories. Garcia partnered with Margaret Carlton in doubles play in a 6-0 victory over Lynchburg. The pair defeated Christina Harris and Lauren Pascadlo, 8-5, with Garcia following with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win over Harris in singles play. Garcia then did not drop a set the rest of the week. She and Carlton posted an 8-0 victory over Hannah Pardue and Jolie Nhouyvanisvong in doubles play against Guilford. Garcia then topped Pardue, 6-0, 6-0, in their singles tilt towards a 9-0 team win. The Generals defeated Hollins, 9-0, as well. This time Garcia paired with Gabi Moss for an 8-0 doubles win over Krishna Agrawal and Amelia Shaw. She then down Agrawal, 6-0, 6-0, in singles play. Garcia is now 10-5 in all singles matches this season including 8-4 at #1 and 3-0 in the ODAC. She is 9-6 in doubles action with several partners.

Harris, a graduate student from Falls Church, Va., continues to add to her legacy at Lynchburg as the former ODAC Player of the Year went a combined 4-0 between top flight singles and double action in leading Lynchburg to a pair of ODAC victories. In the process, Harris became the first player in Hornets history to registered 100 career singles wins. In an 8-1 triumph at Virginia Wesleyan, Harrison won 6-1, 1-6, 6-0 over Alexa Brewster at #1 singles and joined Lauren Pascadlo for an 8-3 win over Brewster and Christine Zalameda at #1 doubles. The pair won against at #1 doubles in a 9-0 team victory at Randolph-Macon. Harris and Pascadlo topped Grace Holderman and Adele Huffman at #1 doubles. Harris then posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Holderman at #1 singles. Harris is 15-4 in all singles matches this season including 12-2 at the top flight and 5-1 in ODAC play. She is 13-6 in all doubles matches.

Garcia Molina, a graduate student from Castellón de la Plana, Spain, earns her second weekly award after helping Shenandoah continue its best season since joining the ODAC in 2012 with a trio of conference victories last week. Garcia Molina went 3-0 at #1 singles and joined Jahveesha Combs for a 3-0 mark at #1 doubles as the Hornets improved to 9-3 overall team dual matches and 7-1 in league play.  In a 9-0 team win over Roanoke, Garcia Molina and Combs won 8-2 over Lucy Collins and Halle Fernstrum. Garcia Molina then topped Collins, 6-1, 6-0, in singles play. She did not drop a set in her singles win over Malena Hoover in the Hornets 5-4 nail-biting victory at Bridgewater. She and Combs defeated Hoover and Rachel Crawford, 8-4, in doubles action. Shenandoah topped Randolph, 9-0, in its final match of the week. Garcia Molina and Combs downed Bailey Livingston and Valentina Santos, 8-1, in doubles play. Garcia Molina then earned her second straight sets win of the week, besting Santos 6-0, 6-0. For the season, Garcia Molina is 17-1 in all singles matches including 11-0 in dual action, all from the #1 position. She is 8-0 in league contests. She and Combs are 18-2 in all doubles matches with a 12-0 mark in top flight matchups. They are 8-0 in the ODAC.

de Souza, a junior from Marilla, Brazil, earns her first ODAC weekly award of the season after contributing to historic milestones for Sweet Briar's program. de Souza helped the Vixens, ranked 12th in the Atlantic South Region, earn four victories last week, pushing SBC's season total to program-best 17 victories in head-to-head team matchups. de Souza became just the second player in Vixens history to record 100 career wins as she went 4-0 over two matches on the weekend. She and Allison Wandling, the 14th ranked doubles pairing in the region, teamed up for an 8-0 win at #1 doubles over Guilford duo Madyson Schreiber and Hannah Pardue. de Souza then posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Schreiber at #1 singles to help SBC to a 9-0 team triumph. The Vixens again posted a 9-0 win later that day, this time against William Peace. de Souza partnered Avery Jones at #2 doubles with the pair posting an 8-0 win over Mya Sampson and Abbie Papale. de Souza then won 6-0, 6-0 over Hayley McNair at #1 singles.

Garcia, a junior from Mandeville, La., had a busy week in helping Washington and Lee to a 4-0 showing against ODAC opponents and a 1-1 mark in non-conference ranked matches. Garcia, who 4-1 in top flight singles play and 3-1 in #1 doubles action with partner Margaret Charlton, led off her week with two points in a 5-2 win over Virginia Wesleyan. She and Charlton won 8-1 in doubles with Garcia adding a 6-1, 6-1 win over Alexa Brewster in singles action. She and Charlton took an 8-4 loss in doubles with Garcia falling 6-4, 6-1 to Abby Moghtader in singles play as the #18 Generals fell to #15 Mary Washington, 6-3. Garcia and Charlton rebounded against Lynchburg with an 8-6 doubles win. Garcia added a 6-2, 6-2 singles win over Christina Harris on the way to a 9-0 team triumph. W&L pulled out a 7-2 result over #31 Christopher Newport. Garcia and Charlton won 8-7 (7-5) with Garcia adding a 6-1, 6-2 win over Reagan Delp in singles play. Garcia capped her week with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Grace Holderman as part of W&L's 9-0 win over Randolph-Macon. For the season, Garcia is 7-2 overall in singles matches and 5-3 in doubles play, all from the top flight.

Zalameda, a junior from Poquoson, Va., helped Virginia Wesleyan to a 3-0 week against ODAC competition by going 5-0 in her matches. In a 7-0 victory over Guilford, Zalameda and partner Anna Rogers posted an 8-3 win over Hannah Arnett and Bea Niybizi at #2 doubles. Zalameda was leading her #2 singles match, 6-3, 3-6, 3-2, when the decision was rendered for the match. In a 9-0 victory over Ferrum, Zalameda and Rogers bested Sarah Estes and Morgan Hundley, 8-0, at #2 doubles. Zalameda added a 6-0, 6-0 win over Hundley at #3 singles. Virginia Wesleyan closed the week with an 8-1 victory at Shenandoah. Zalameda and Rogers earned an 8-2 result over Madison Hansen and Madison Rogers at #2 doubles. Zalameda picked up her second straight sets win of the week via a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Lily Kimble.

Harris, a graduate student from Falls Church, Va., picks up her second weekly award of the season after helping Lynchburg post a trio of ODAC wins last week. It all started with a 5-4 win over Sweet Briar College. Harris and teammate Caroline Guill fell 8-7 in #1 doubles play against Ruth de Souza and Allison Wandling. Harris made up for that with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-3, win over de Souza in #1 singles action. Harrison then earned four points in a pair of 9-0 wins over Shenandoah and Guilford. She and Guill defeated Jahveesha Combs and Lily Kimble in #1 doubles play against SU. Harris then topped Combs, 6-3, 6-2, at #1 singles. Against Guilford, Harris and Guill won 8-0 over Madyson Schreiber and Hannah Pardue at #1 doubles. Harris then added a point with a 6-1, 6-1, victory over Schreiber at #1 singles. Harris is now 8-1 in singles play and 6-3 in singles action this season.

Moss, a first-year from Paradise Valley, Ariz., earns her second straight weekly award after helping nationally 18th-ranked Washington and Lee to a pair of team wins last week including a triumph over #33 Christopher Newport University. Moss and the Generals started their week with a 6-3 win over Randolph College. Moss and Becket Waters won 8-0 at #2 doubles over Heather Whetzel and Cassidy Bell. Moss added a 6-0, 6-0, win at #1 singles over Zu Elkhansa. In W&L's 6-3 win over CNU, Moss and Claire Lacksen teamed up for an 8-6 win at #3 doubles over Kiersten Chang and Megan Bauer. Moss topped Tessa Trate, 6-2, 6-7 (4-7), 1-0 (11-9) in #2 singles action. For the season, Moss is 9-0 overall including 5-0 in singles play and 4-0 in doubles matches.

De Souza, a first-year from Marilia, Brazil, went 6-2 combined in top flight singles and doubles play as she helped the Vixens go 3-1 in four matches last week. De Souza helped Sweet Briar recover from a 9-0 setback to regionally 10th-ranked Rhodes with two points in each of the next three matches, resuting in a 7-2 win over Webster (Mo.), a 6-3 triumph over Gordon, and a 5-4 victory over the College of Wooster. De Souza and Emily Wandling teamed together at #1 doubles in all three matches, posting a 8-3 win over Erin Brezovar and Maggie Federhofer from Webster, an 8-1 victory over Anne Carsey and Madison West from Gordon, and an 8-6 victory over Shannon Sertz and Joy Li from Wooster. De Souza claimed #1 singles wins via a 7-5, 6-2 result over Webster's Brezovar, a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Gordon's Carsey, and a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Wooster's Li.

Jin, a senior from Kunming, China, put together a 6-2 week combined at #1 singles and #1 doubles, the latter all with partner Ashley Schmitz. Randolph went 3-1 in team results. Jin opened the week with her toughest outing as she dropped a singles match with W&L's Taylor Garcia, the 44th-ranked player in the country, via a 6-3, 6-3 line. She and Schmitz fell 8-4 in doubles action as the Generals claimed the match, 7-2. Jin recovered to go 6-0 over a three-day stretch beginning with a 6-0, 6-0 singles win and 8-1 doubles triumph in an 8-1 team victory over Johnson (Tenn.). She then won 6-2, 6-1 in singles and 8-1 in doubles on the way to a 6-3 team win over St. Mary's (Md.). Jin capped her week with a 6-0, 6-1 singles victory and an 8-1 doubles win to lead the WildCats to a 7-2 triumph over Stevenson.

Kiser, a junior from Mt. Solon, Va., picked up her second weekly award of the year as she went a combined 6-0 to help the Eagles close the regular season with a 2-1 mark against league foes. Kiser earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at #1 singles and joined Nicole Shifflett for an 8-0 triumph at #1 doubles in Bridgewater's 7-2 victory over Shenandoah. Kiser accounted for two more points as the Eagles scratched out a 5-4 win at a neutral site over Emory & Henry. She and Emily Daigneault won 8-6 at #2 doubles, while Kiser picked up 6-0, 6-1 victory at #1 singles. Kiser accounted for two of BC's points in a 6-3 setback to Virginia Wesleyan. She and Shifflett paired up for an 8-3 win at #1 doubles. Kiser added a 6-3, 6-4 victory at #1 singles.

Wright, a first-year from Ausitn Texas, helped the 22nd-ranked Generals to a 4-1 overall record last week, including a 4-0 mark in ODAC play, by going 3-1 in doubles and 4-0 in singles matches. Wright and Taylor Garcia teamed up in No. 1 doubles in four of the team's five matches, and defeated Roanoke's Jessica Kennedy and Madeline Herring, 8-1, Emory & Henry's Katie Meade and Kaitlyn Sheaves, 8-0, and Bridgewater's Whitney Kiser and Nicole Shifflett, 8-3. Their lone loss of the week came at No. 10 Carnegie Mellon on Saturday, when they fell, 8-1, to the second-ranked duo of Danna Taylor and Melissa Strome. In singles, Wright downed E&H's Sheaves, 6-0, 6-0, and RC's Carolyn Kitsock, 6-0, 6-1, both in the No. 2 slot. She then earned a 6-4, 6-3 win over Kiser in No. 1 singles, before ending her week with a 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (10-8) win over CMU's Vinaya Rao in No. 3 singles. Wright now owns a 12-6 overall singles record this season, the most singles wins on the team, and is 12-7 in all doubles matches, including a 9-5 mark with Garcia as her partner.

Anderson, a first-year from Norfolk, Va., put together a combined 4-0 week between singles and doubles play to help Lynchburg rack up a pair of ODAC teams wins. The Hornets have won five of their last six matches and sit 11-2 overall. In a 7-2 victory over Randolph, Anderson won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. She joined Reagan Coon for an 8-2 triumph at No. 3 doubles. Anderson took stepped up in ladder position in a 5-0 win over Sweet Briar. She won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and then joined Christina Harris for an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles. Anderson is on a seven-match singles winning streak and is 10-2 in dual singles matches this season.

Schmitz, a junior from Keswick, Va., helped the WildCats go 2-0 win ODAC play with a pair of 5-4 wins over Roanoke and Virginia Wesleyan. That extended Randolph's winning streak to eight straight matches. Schmitz was a perfect 4-0 combined in singles and doubles play. She posted a 6-3, 6-3 win at #2 singles against Roanoke. She joined Keyu Jin for an 8-5 victory at #1 doubles versus the Maroons. Against VWU, Schmitz won 7-5, 6-1 at #2 singles and against paired with Jin for an 8-4 triumph at #1 doubles. Schmitz is now 11-2 in singles play at the second ladder position and is 7-1 with Jin in doubles matches.

Fleenor, a senior from Chattanooga, Tenn., put the finish touches on her regular season with a 5-1 combined week at #1 singles and #1 doubles. She and Mary Hampton McNeal won 8-2 over Shenandoah in doubles play. Fleenor added a 6-0, 6-0, victory at top-flight singles for a 9-0 team victory. She helped the Generals finish their ODAC slate at 11-0 with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 singles win over Christina Harris from Lynchburg, making her the first player to defeat LC's top option in singles play this season. Fleenor and Ashton Jenne added an 8-3 win in doubles play towards a 7-2 team victory. Nationally 15th-ranked Washington and Lee then came up just short, 5-4, in a showdown with #19 Mary Washington. Fleenor won 6-3, 6-4 in singles play, but she and Jenne fell, 8-2, to regionally second-ranked duo Ashley Barrow and Kait Brogan. Fleenor enters the ODAC Tournament 15-4 overall in singles play including 12-3 at #1 and 5-0 versus league foes. She is 11-11 combined with three different partners in doubles action, all from the top flight.

Kiser, a sophomore from Mt. Solon, Va., went 7-1 in four matches for the Eagles with Bridgewater picking up a pair of ODAC team wins along the way. In a 9-0 victory over Shenandoah, Kiser paired with Shannon Quinn for an 8-0 win at #2 doubles before earning a 6-2, 6-0, victory at #1 singles. Kiser and Jamiah Lewis took an 8-3 loss at #1 doubles against Virginia Wesleyan, but Kiser recovered for a 6-3, 6-3, win at #2 singles. Kiser and Lewis put themselves in the win column at #1 doubles against Guilford with an 8-1 result. Kiser helped put the caps on a 9-0 team win with a 6-1, 6-1, victory at #2 singles. Kiser and Quinn renewed their partnership in a team win over Southern Virginia with an 8-4 victory at #2 doubles. Kiser returned to top-flight singles with a 6-1, 6-3 win.

Harris, a sophomore from Falls Church, Va., continues to roll thru the spring season with little more than a blip on her singles record as she went 4-0 between doubles and singles action in the Hornets 1-1 week. She and Sarah Wyly earned an 8-5 win at #1 doubles against Randolph. Harris followed with a 6-0, 6-2, victory at #1 singles to help Lynchburg to a 6-3 team triumph. In a 5-2 team setback to Roanoke, Harris was responsible for (or partly so) for both of the Hornets' points. She and Wyly won 8-5 for a second time at #1 doubles. Harris then picked up a 6-1, 6-1, triumph at #1 singles. She is now 12-0 in top-flight singles matches this spring. 

Jin, a sophomore from Kunming, China, put together a 4-0 week combined with doubles and singles play as Randolph posted a pair of key conference victories to stay in the top-half of the league table. Jin opened with an 8-4 victory at #1 doubles with Aubrey Hawn and followed with a 6-2, 6-2, victory at #1 singles in the WildCats 6-3 team triumph over Roanoke. She and Hawn appeared in the winner's column against Virginia Wesleyan with an 8-3 top flight win. Jin added a 6-1, 6-0, singles victory to help Randolph to a 5-0 team win. For the season, Jin is 10-5 in overall singles matches including 8-3 from the first position. She has won six of her last seven singles showdowns. She and Hawn are 6-4 in doubles play.

Lewis, a freshman from Dinwiddie, Va., won twice at #1 singles and two more times at #2 doubles as Bridgewater went 1-1 against conference opponents to solidify its spot in the upcoming ODAC Tournament. Lewis and teammate Shannon Quinn earned an 8-6 win over Randolph-Macon's top duo before Lewis turned in a 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7) victory in top-flight singles action two secure two points in a 6-3 setback to R-MC. Lewis was back at it in a 9-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan as she won 6-2, 6-1 in singles play and joined Quinn for an 8-1 triumph in doubles.

Henderson, a senior from Abingdon, Va., went 4-0 combined at #1singles and #1 doubles to help the Maroons to a pair of ODAC victories. Henderson and partner Colette Wibaut earned an 8-0 victory in doubles play against Hollins and an 8-4 win against Virginia Wesleyan. Henderson then improved her ODAC record to 4-5 and her mark at #1 singles to 7-7 with a 6-3, 6-2 victory versus VWC. Henderson and Wibaut are now 10-5 overall and 5-4 versus conference foes.

Johnson, a freshman from Shakopee, Minn., put together a 6-0 week at #4 and #5 singles and #3 doubles as she helped Hollins rattled off three team victories including a pair of wins in conference play. Johnson and partner Casey Mahan claimed all three doubles wins at the third flight in HU's 6-3 win over Sweet Briar, 9-0 victory over Trinty (D.C.), and 5-4 triumph over Shenandoah. They won 8-1 over SBC, 8-0 against TU, and 8-3 in the week-capper versus SU. Johnson posted a pair of wins at #5 singles and one at the fourth flight, and dropped only four games in doing so. She won 6-1, 6-0 over SBC at #5 and duplicated the effort at #4 singles against Trinity. She finished her week with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at #5 over Shenandoah.

Kiser, a freshman from Mt. Solon, Va., went 5-1 between play at #2 singles and #1 doubles to help the Eagles post three conference wins. Kiser and partner Nicole Shifflett went 2-1 in top-flight doubles action. They won 8-3 and 8-4 over Hollins and Shenandoah before fall to Emory & Henry, 8-4. Kiser dropped just five games in winning three times at #2 singles. She defeated her opponent from Hollins, 6-0, 6-1, and then added 6-0, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-1 victories over Shenandoah and E&H, respectively. Bridgewater defeated Hollins, 8-1, Shenandoah, 8-1, and Emory & Henry, 7-2.

Hill, a freshman from Canton, Ohio, participated in all six of Washington and Lee's matches last week, going 10-0 between #2 singles and #1 doubles in the process. The Generals went 5-1 during that stretch. In singles action, the 11th-ranked player in the ITA's Atlantic South Region won 6-1, 6-0 over Christopher Newport and then trounced the nation's 29th-ranked player, John Hopkins' Megumi Chen, 6-4, 6-2. She followed that with a win over Randolph-Macon, 6-2, 6-2, and then capped her singles performances with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Virginia Wesleyan. In doubles play, Hill and partner Brooke Donnelly form the 22nd-ranked team in the NCAA Division III. They went 6-0, picking wins over CNU (8-4), JHU (8-4), R-MC (8-0), VWC (8-0), Shenandoah (8-0), and Emory & Henry (8-2). Hill is currently 11-5 overall this spring in singles action, including 6-0 against ODAC foes. She and Donnelly are 14-3 in doubles player overall and 7-0 in league play.

Grice, a junior Hoover, Ala., helped the regionally 14th-ranked Yellow Jackets to a pair of ODAC wins to remain unbeaten this spring. Grice won both of her #1 singles matches against Bridgewater and Virginia Wesleyan, securing 6-0, 6-0 scores in both contests. She and teammate Gaby Tersigni won 8-3 and 8-1 at #2 doubles, helping R-MC to final team wins of 8-1 and 9-0, respectively.

Mazzari, a freshman from San Remo, Italy, helped Emory & Henry to a 1-1 team showing by going 4-0 between her matches at #1 singles and #1 doubles. Mazzari was responsible for two points in the Wasps' 6-0 victory over Virginia Wesleyan. She won 6-0, 6-1 in singles action, and then partner with Savanna Summers to win 8-0 in doubles play. The duo were back at it against Randolph-Macon as they posted an 8-6 triumph over Randolph-Macon. Mazzari took the top flight singles match as well, winning 6-0, 6-2. Mazzari is now 12-0 in all singles matches and 10-2 overall in doubles play. She and Summers are 8-1 when paired together.

Fleenor, a sophomore from Chattanooga, Tenn., helped keep the 13th-ranked Generals rolling with two more wins last week, including an ODAC triumph and a national-ranked showdown. Fleenor competed at #3 singles and #2 doubles as the Generals took down nationally 18th-ranked Mary Washington, 5-4, to start the week. Fleenor defeated the 41st-rated singles player in the country, Shelby Harris, 7-6, 6-4. She and Rachel Hicks scored an 8-4 victory in doubles action. Fleenor moved to #2 singles and #1 doubles in the Generals 6-3 win over Roanoke. She won 6-2, 6-0 in singles play and joined Brooke Donnelly for an 8-1 doubles win.

Meighan, a senior from McLean, Va., put together a 3-0 week that included singles and doubles wins over Sweet Briar in the ODAC quarterfinals. Meighan, ranked third on the Atlantic South Region singles players charts by the ITA, started her week with a win at #1 singles over regionally fifth-ranked Sewanee. She topped Bronte Goodhue 6-0, 6-1, who is the fifth ranked singles player in the Atlantic South. Meighan and partner Patricia Kirkland, the top tandem in the region, took down Goodhue and Lindsey Liles, 8-6, the third-rated duo by the ITA. In the quarterfinals, Meighan and Kirkland won 8-0 over SBC in #1 doubles play. Her match against Caitlin Delmas at #1 singles went unfinished.

Lewis, a senior from Kingston, Jamaica, helped the WildCats to a 3-0 week by going 6-0 in all competions, each of which came against ODAC competition. Lewis was 3-0 at #5 singles and 3-0 at #3 doubles with partner Tiandre Forde, giving the WildCats six points towards wins over Hollins (7-2), Lynchburg (9-0) and Virginia Wesleyan (6-3). In singles action, Lewis earned a 1-6, 6-4, 10-8 win over Hollins, a 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Lynchburg, and a 6-1, 6-1 victory over VWC. She and Forde posted 8-5, 8-6, and 8-1 wins in doubles play, respectively.

Coffee, a senior from Plano, Texas, put together a strong week from the top flights and helped lead Hollins to a 2-1 week against ODAC competition. Coffee was 3-0 at #1 singles and 2-1 splitting time at #1 and #2 doubles as HU defeated Virginia Wesleyan (7-2) and Guilford (5-4) in addition to a loss against Roanoke (8-1). Coffee won 6-3, 6-1, in singles play against the Maroons, adding 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-2, triumphs over VWC and GC, respectively. She and Tiffany Hodges fell to Roanoke (8-3) at #1 singles, but rebounded for an 8-4 over VWC at the top flight. Coffee was then joined by Amelia Verkerk in an 8-3 win over the Quakers at #2 doubles. Hollins' 2-1 week moved them from the bottom position to seventh in the league standings.

Meighan, a senior from McLean, Va., helped lead the Generals to a pair of wins last week, including a matchup of nationally top-10 ranked programs by the ITA. In a 5-2 win over Roanoke, Meighan won 6-1, 6-0, at #1 singles. The 10th-ranked Generals then hosted #2 Johns Hopkins University. W&L came out on top, 5-4. Meighan and Patricia Kirkland, the third-rated duo in the Atlantic South Region, bested Ashnaa Rao and Shannon Henderson, 8-5, in #1 doubles action. Rao and Henderson are slotted sixth in the region. Meighan and Rao then squared off at #1 singles. Meighan, ranked sixth in the region, took down the Atlantic South's top-ranked singles player in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, to cap her day.

McDonald, a freshman from Richmond, Va., put together a 5-0 week in helping Randolph-Macon to a 3-0 week that included a 5-0 win over Shenandoah to move on to the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament. She competed at #3 singles and #1 doubles all week, going 2-0 in singles play. She defeated her singles opponents from Guilford (6-1, 6-0) and Bridgewater (6-2, 6-4) and was leading 6-1, 5-0 against SU when the match was ended due to reaching a point of completion. McDonald and partner Angelina Sportelli went 3-0 at #1 doubles, boasting wins of 8-1, 8-6 and 8-2 over their opponents from GC, BC and SU.

Ogunshina, a senior from Baltimore, Md., helped the Yellow Jackets to four ODAC team match victories as she went 8-0 last week. R-MC defeated Sweet Briar (8-1), Randolph (7-2), Shenandoah (7-2) and Hollins (9-0). Ogunshina opened with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles against SBC. Shen then played out of the No. 4 spot against Randolph and Shenandoah, posting wins of 6-2, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-1. She returned to the third flight against Hollins, winning 6-1, 6-0. Ogunshina and teammate Kelsie Grice paired for four wins at No. 2 doubles, winning 8-0, 9-7, 8-0 and 8-0, sequentially.

Di Michele, a freshman from San Remo, Italy, went 4-0 last week to help the Wasps to a 1-1 showing with just four team players in each match. Di Michele won 6-2, 6-3 at #1 singles against Virginia Wesleyan. She and teammate Lauren Riner took down the Marlins' #1 duo, 8-3, in doubles action. Di Michele and Riner won by the same score at #1 doubles against Guilford. Di Michele dropped just one game in winning at #1 singles (6-0, 6-1), helping E&H to a 6-3 team win. Di Michele is currently 11-1 overall and 6-1 in the ODAC at #1 singles this season.

Velazco, a sophomore from Barquisimeto, Venezuela, went 6-0 individually as the WildCats won three matches. In a 6-0 win over Southern Virginia, Velazco won 6-1, 6-1 at #3 singles and joined partner Jenna Sweet in an 8-3 win at #2 doubles. In a 5-3 win over Emory & Henry on Friday, Velazco and Sweet won 8-4 at #2 doubles, with Velazco winning 6-4, 6-0 at #3 singles. in an 8-1 win over Virginia Wesleyan, Velazco moved up to #2 singles and posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory. She and Sweet won 8-3 at #2 doubles.

Smith, a freshman from Locust Valley, N.Y., helped the Maroons advance to the ODAC Tournament semifinals with 2-0 record at #3 singles and a 1-1 mark at #1 doubles. In a 5-4 regular season-ending win over Bridgewater, Smith won 6-1, 6-1 in singles play before falling 8-4 in doubles action with teammate Laura Dodson. The duo rebounded for an 8-2 win over Randolph College at #1 doubles in the ODAC quarterfinals. Smith also won her #3 singles match against the WildCats, 6-3, 6-0, to help the Maroons to a 5-0 team win.

Gordon, a junior from Winchester, Va., helped the Eagles to a 3-0 record against ODAC teams last week as Bridgewater defeated Sweet Briar, Virginia Wesleyan and Emory & Henry. Gordon posted a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at #1 singles against SBC, and then won 6-2, 6-1 from the top flight versus VWC. Against E&H, she won at #1 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Gordon was also 3-0 at #1 doubles, joining teammate Marla O'Bryan in topping SBC, 8-2, VWC, 9-8, and E&H, 8-3. Gordon is 15-2 this spring in singles action, all from the top flight. She's 8-2 against league opponents. Gordon is 15-3 in doubles action, all from the #1 position.

Wingate, a junior from Independence, Va., went 4-0 between play at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles with teammate Taylor Evans in two matches played last week. She won 6-1, 6-1 in singles and 8-1 in doubles in a 5-4 loss to Sweet Briar. In a 5-4 win over Guilford, Wingate won 6-4, 6-4 in singles play and 8-5 in doubles action. Wingate is 9-6 overall at #1 singles and 8-6 at #1 doubles when partnered with Evans.

Meighan, a sophomore from McLean, Va., went 4-0 during the Generals 3-0 week. In a 9-0 win over Randolph, Meighan posted a straight set win at #1 singles and teamed with Cameron Dorsey for an 8-2 triumph and #1 doubles. In a 7-2 victory against #7 Carnegie Mellon, Meighan topped Chelsie Motie 6-3, 6-0. Motie is the seventh-ranked player in the Atlantic South Region. Meighan and Patricia Kirkland posted an 8-2 win at #1 doubles, defeating the region's eighth-ranked tandem in Motie and Brynn Raschke. Meighan, the fifth-ranked singles player in the region, is 13-4 overall and 9-2 in dual matches this season. She and Kirkland, who top the ITA's Atlantic South Region doubles rankings, are 15-3 overall and 11-1 in dual matches.

Bergey, a sophomore from Harrisonburg, Va., stayed red-hot in singles and doubles action to help lead the Bridgewater Eagles women’s tennis team to a perfect 3-0 week on the courts. The sophomore opened the week with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Roanoke’s Corbin Leitch before posting a 6-1, 6-0 triumph on Saturday against Guilford’s Natalie Sutton. On Sunday, Bergey bumped up to number one singles and claimed a 6-1, 6-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan’s Jordan Hill. In doubles action, Bergey also went unbeaten with teammate Katie Gordon at number one doubles. Against Roanoke, the tandem picked up an 8-3 victory before posting an 8-1 win on Saturday against Guilford. Bergey and Gordon closed out the week with an 8-1 win at Virginia Wesleyan.

Montoya, a junior from Delicias, Mexico, picks up her second weekly award after leading Hollins to three victories last week. She was nearly perfect in top flight singles and doubles action. Against Mary Baldwin, Montoya won 6-0, 6-1 in singles play and teamed with sister Patricia Montoya for an 8-1 win in doubles competition. Against Sweet Briar, Karen won 6-0, 6-0 and 8-0 in singles and doubles action against the Vixens. She capped her week with 6-0, 6-1 and 8-4 wins against Southern Virginia. Montoya is now 12-0 in singles play this spring, all but two coming from the No. 1 singles position.

Bergey, a sophomore from Harrisonburg, Va., led the Bridgewater Eagles women’s tennis team to a 3-0 week on the courts by running up a perfect 6-0 combined week with three wins in singles and doubles action. Bergey opened the week with a 6-0, 6-0 win at number two against Lynchburg before rolling to a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Randolph. The sophomore rounded out the week with a 6-0, 6-0 victory on Saturday at Emory & Henry. With doubles teammate Katie Gordon at number one, Bergey picked up an 8-4 victory against the Hornets before rolling to back-to-back 8-1 wins on Friday and Saturday against Randolph and Emory & Henry, respectively. Bergey has now won five straight matches in singles play and three in a row in doubles.

Kirkland, a freshman from Charleston, S.C., was nearly unscathed against some of the best competition in the country at the Fab Five Tournament this past week. Against top-ranked Williams, she won her No. 6 singles contest 2-6, 7-5, 10-4 before falling 6-8 in No. 2 doubles. Against seventh-ranked Tufts, Kirkland helped the Generals to a team-win with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles. She went on to post an 8-5 triumph at No. 3 doubles. In the Generals' final match against fourth-ranked Emory, Kirkland won at No. 3 doubles 8-3, but her singles match went unfinished in the shortened affair.

Gordon, a freshman from Winchester, Va., turned in a strong week for the Bridgewater Eagles women’s tennis team, propelling the Eagles to a 2-1 week, including a victory in Sunday’s ODAC Quarterfinal matchup against Guilford. Gordon opened the week with a loss to Roanoke’s Laura Dodson by a 6-3, 7-5 tally, before recovering for a 6-1, 7-5 win over 2010 ODAC first teamer Karen Montoya (Hollins) on Thursday. Gordon closed out the week with a 6-0, 6-1 win to help propel the Eagles to a 5-1 victory over Guilford. On the week, Gordon went 2-1 in doubles play with freshman teammate Katy Bergey at number one doubles.

Taylor, a freshman from Springfield, Va., picks up her second weekly honor after a week that included a pair of singles wins over regionally-ranked opponents. Taylor, competing at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles over the past week, went 4-0 overall in singles action and 2-2 in doubles play. She opened the week with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Washington and Lee's Lauren Lukas, currently the 19th-ranked singles player in the Atlantic South Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Taylor continued her week with singles and doubles victories over Emory & Henry (6-1, 6-0 and 8-4) and Southern Virginia (6-1, 6-1 and 8-2). She capped her week with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Courtney Goimarac from Mary Washington, the 17th-rated player in the region. For the season, Taylor tops the ODAC singles win-loss records with a 15-0 mark, all from the No. 1 ladder position. She is currently ranked 20th in the region. The new ITA rankings are set to be released on April 14.

Snyder, a junior from Highland Heights, Ohio, helped lead the No. 9 Generals to a 6-3 win over No. 8 Carnegie Mellon on Saturday at the Duchossois Tennis Center. Playing No. 3 singles, Snyder defeated CMU’s Alexandra Tapak in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. In doubles, she partnered with junior Ellen Yeatman to top the CMU duo of Jennifer Chui and Alexandra Tapak, 8-2, for W&L’s only doubles victory of the match.

Wilson, a freshman from Lynchburg, Va., remained hot in the Spring with a 3-0 week at No. 4 singles and a perfect 3-0 week in No. 3 doubles to help pace the Bridgewater Eagles to an unbeaten week in women’s tennis action. She opened the week with a 6-2, 7-5 win against Southern Virginia, before rolling to a 6-2, 6-1 win against the Vixens of Sweet Briar. Finally, Wilson earned a 7-5, 6-0 win on Saturday against Virginia Wesleyan. Wilson also teamed with Olivia Stone to go unbeaten in doubles action with 8-3, 8-4 and 8-1 victories, respectively. Currently, the freshman is riding a 10 match unbeaten streak in singles play, and a six match winning streak in doubles action.
