R-MC Leads All-ODAC Volleyball Awards with Three Special Honors

FOREST, Va. --- Randolph-Macon earned three major awards and placed a league-best five players on all-conference teams as part of the annual All-ODAC Volleyball Awards. Yellow Jackets setter Erin Quinn was tabbed the ODAC Player of the Year, while mentor Bill Rogers repeated as the ODAC Coach of the Year. Outside hitter Miranda Hall garnered ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels. Bridgewater outside hitter Carleigh Studtmann secured ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete honors from the conference's sports information directors.

Quinn, a junior from Morrisville, N.C., has been the engine running one of the ODAC's highest scoring offense's. She leads the league in overall assists (1,162) and assists per set (10.66), helping R-MC to a conference-high 13.06 kills per set. The Yellow Jackets are second with 1,423 total kills, while Quinn accounts for 87-percent of the Yellow Jackets' assists (1,335). She averaged 10.0 or more assists per set in 20 separate matches, dishing out 40 or more assists in 13 matches.  She eclipsed the 50-assist mark six different times with two occasions of 55 helpers and a season-best 56 dimes in a 3-2 non-conference victory over John Carroll University. Quinn also contributed to the attack with 57 kills and a .242 attack percentage. Defensively, she ranks 12th in the ODAC with 324 digs, good enough for a 2.97 per set average. She also registered 25 blocks on the season.

Rogers enjoys his fifth ODAC top coaching honor, adding this year's award to those earned in 2009, 2012, 2014, and 2015. He is in the midst of his 15th season guiding the Yellow Jackets volleyball program, leading his squad to the top seed in the ODAC Tournament for the third time in the last four seasons and their second consecutive conference title. R-MC went unscathed thru the ODAC regular season for the second straight year, posting 11-0 records both times. Randolph-Macon is 23-7 following the ODAC title match, increasing Rogers' career records to 347-138 (.715), including a 139-18 (.885) mark in league play.

Hall, a freshman from Mechanicsville, Va., immediately stepped into the Yellow Jackets attacking rotation to become one of three on the team to register more than 250 kills. Hall smacked 283 total winners at an average of 3.37 per set from her outside position, recording a .232 attack percentage in the process. She notched double digits in kills in 13 separate matches, including a pair of season-high 21-kill efforts against non-conference foes St. Mary's College (Md.) and Susquehanna University. Hall also played well at the net defensively, posting 33 total blocks.

Studtmann, a junior from Salem, Va., stars both on and off the court for the Eagles. In the classroom, she maintains a 4.0 grade point average as a Biochemistry major with minors in Mathematics and Neuroscience. A two-time All-ODAC Academic Team honoree, Studtmann is the vice president of the Bridgewater chemistry club as well as a member of the Emerging Leaders Program. She previously won the BC First-Year Chemistry Award (2015) as well as the John M. Martin Organic Chemistry Award (2016). On the court, Studtmann earned a spot on the All-ODAC Second Team after receiving third team laurels a season ago. A middle hitter, Studtmann ranks second in the ODAC with a .352 attack percentage as she has registered 243 kills against just 65 errors in 506 total attacks. Her 61 total blocks are 11th in the ODAC, while her 18 solo blocks sit fifth.
