FOREST, Va. --- Randolph-Macon College collected a league-best five honors plus two special individual awards to headline the 2017 All-ODAC Volleyball Awards. Yellow Jackets' outside hitter Miranda Hall earned ODAC Player of the Year laurels, while R-MC mentor Bill Rogers picked up ODAC Coach of the Year accolades. Washington and Lee University middle blocker Courtney Berry was tabbed the ODAC Rookie of the Year, while Bridgewater College middle hitter Carleigh Studtmann received ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete recognition.

This season's all-conference teams feature 13 honorees from last season's lists. R-MC's trio of Mariah Clark, Erin Quinn, and Samantha Sallade were first teamers last season, while Hall makes the jump from the 2016 third team. Both Studtmann and W&L's Meg Guignon move up a rung from the second team. BC's Macon Frey, R-MC's Rebecca McGilvery, and Roanoke College's Kylah Blackmore are repeat second team selections. Emory & Henry College's Ali Singleton was a second team choice last year, while Lynchburg College's Mesa Willis and Virginia Wesleyan University's Emilee Pierson go from the third team to the second team. RC's Ryan Hedgpeth appears on the third team for a second straight season.

Hall, a sophomore from Mechanicsville, Va., has been stellar all season. A three-time ODAC Player of the Week honoree, Hall couples this year's top player award with last season's ODAC Rookie of the Year accolade. Following the ODAC Tournament, she is first in the ODAC in kills per set (3.18), third in points per set (3.4), fourth in total kills (299), and fifth in total points earned (315.5). She was especially effective against league foes, ranking first in kills per set (3.48), third in points per set (3.6), fourth in hitting percentage (.325), and seventh in total kills (108). Hall registered 10 or more kills in a match 17 times with a pair of season-high 20-kill efforts at Washington and Lee and at Emory. 

Rogers enjoys his fourth straight and sixth overall ODAC top coaching honor, adding this year's award to those earned in 2009, 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016. He is in the midst of his 16th season guiding the Yellow Jackets volleyball program, leading his squad to the top seed in the ODAC Tournament for the fourth time in the last five seasons and their third consecutive conference title. R-MC went unscathed thru the ODAC regular season for the third straight year, posting 11-0 records each time. Randolph-Macon is 24-6 following the ODAC title match, increasing Rogers' career records to 372-145 (.720), including a 150-18 (.893) mark in league play.

Berry, a freshman from Charlottesville, Va., has made an immediate impact in her first season in Lexington. Berry leads the ODAC in total blocks (135), blocks per set (1.18), and block assists (110) while ranking second in solo blocks (25). She also leads the league in hitting percentage (.337). Against conference opponents, Berry's numbers maintained as she was first in solo blocks (9) and blocks per set (1.22) and ranked second in total blocks (44) and block assists (35). Her .325 attack percentage finished fifth. She recorded four or more blocks in a match 22 times, reaching a high of eight on three separate occasions. One of her best attacking matches came in a 3-1 win over Maryville (Tenn.) when she registered a season-best 15 kills on a .565 attack percentage.

Studtmann, a senior from Salem, Va., enjoys her second straight ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete award in as many seasons. Studtmann maintains a 4.00 grade point average as a Biochemistry major with minors in Mathematics and Neuroscience. Now a three-time honoree on the All-ODAC Academic Team, she has well-represented Bridgewater in a number of fashions including vice-president of the Bridgewater chemistry club and member of the Emerging Leaders Program. This past summer, she began participating as a NeuroSURF Fellow thru the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute. She previously won the Bridgewater First-Year Chemistry Award (2015) as well as the John M. Martin Organic Chemistry Award (2016). On the court, Studtmann is now a three-time All-ODAC honoree, adding a first team honor this season to second team and third team selections in 2016 and 2015, respectively. She is third in the ODAC in hitting percentage (.318), eighth in solo blocks (17), and ninth in overall blocks per set (0.65). She will graduate with 700 career kills at a .270 attack percentage with 233 total blocks over her four-year Eagles' tenure.
