Boles, a freshman from Houston, Texas, helped lead W&L to a 3-2 record in five matches last week that included a pair of contests against No. 6 Christopher Newport and No. 10 University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She averaged 11 kills, 2.2 service aces and 8.6 digs per match. She opened the week with 11 kills (.381) and five service aces in a 3-0 victory over Sweet Briar, and closed out the week by recording 14 kills, 13 digs, three blocks and three service aces in a 3-2 loss to No. 10 Wis.-Oshkosh. Boles tallied 15 kills and four digs in a 3-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan. For the week, she registered 55 kills, 43 digs, 11 aces and nine total blocks (3 solo, 6 asst.), accounting for 70 points won.
Volleyball Honor Roll
Ashley Scott, Bridgewater College, Sophomore, Outside
Hitter
Scott returned to the lineup at the Lebanon Valley
tournament after missing the loss to Roanoke to begin the week and
helped lead the Eagles to a 2-1 record. Scott averaged 5.0
kills/game and hit for a .400 percentage during the three
matches.Scott had 19 kills and a .434 hitting percentage in a loss
to Lebanon Valley. She added 14 kills (.542 hitting percentage) in
a victory over Neumann and 12 kills (.244 hitting percentage) in a
win over Frostburg State. The Eagles handed Frostburg State their
first loss of the season.
Tabitha Bowman, Eastern Mennonite University, Junior, Outside
Hitter
Bowman started to heat up as the week went along,
helping EMU to two wins. She pounded out 11 kills and 13
kills in a pair of 3-0 sweeps. In the two wins, she averaged
4.0 kills per set, hitting over .300 both times. For the
week, Bowman averaged 3.1 kills and added 14 digs. She is in
the top five in both kills and kills per set in the ODAC.
Taylor Whitley, Guilford College, Freshman, Setter
Whitley averaged 9.31 assists per set in the
Quakers’ 1-2 week… also contributed 1.54 digs per set,
four blocks and two service aces… averaged over 11 assists
per set and had two service aces in the Quakers’ 3-0 win over
Peace… tallied 39 assists in a five-set loss to
Greensboro… had a career-high 47 assists in a five-set loss
at Methodist.
Michelle Boucher, Lynchburg College, Senior,
Outside/Middle Hitter
Boucher led the Hornets to a 2-0 week this week, both
three0game victories. She blasted 21 kills in six games for a .312
hitting percentage. Her 21 kills almost doubled the number of the
next closest hornet.
Caroline English, Randolph College, Senior, Setter
English had a productive week for the WildCats, one that
also saw her break the Randolph all-time career record for assists
on Saturday against Ferrum. Going into the match only needing two,
she chalked up her third assist on her ninth set for the record.
She now sits with 2,190 assists in her career after the 30 she put
up against Ferrum.
Maggie Wagner, Roanoke College, Senior, Outside Hitter
Wagner finished the week with 42 kills, 11 aces, 70 digs
and nine blocks in six matches, including two ODAC wins over
Bridgewater and Randolph. Roanoke went 5-1 over the course of
the week with its loss coming to Averett University. Wagner,
who was named 2010 Maroon Classic All-Tournament Team, was at her
best against Averett as she collected 14 kills, 18 digs, four aces
and three blocks. She had 10 kills against just one error to
go with four aces in a win over Ferrum.
