KALA GUY, Virginia Wesleyan College, Sophomore, Outside Hitter

Guy, a sophomore from Fishersville, Va., helped lead VWC to a 5-0 week, including a five-set win over Roanoke College and an a sweep against a strong field of competition at the St. Mary’s College Seahawk Invitational.  Guy produced 79 kills in the five matches, including a season-high 20 against Roanoke.  She averaged 15.8 kills through the five matches and 43 attacks per match.  Guy also recorded a season-high 20 digs against St. Mary’s.  She helped the Marlins to their second victory of the season over three-time defending Capital Athletic Conference champion Salisbury, a first for the VWC program.  Guy now has 322 kills this season, the fourth highest total in VWC history.

Volleyball Honor Roll

Jamie Cockerham, Emory & Henry College, Sophomore, Outside Hitter
Cockerham helped to lead the Wasps to a 2-0 week with victories over Southern Va. and Hollins. For the week Cockerham had a .481 hitting pct. with 30 kills in eight games (3.75/kpg). She also had one block and 11 digs on the week. For the season, Cockerham averages 2.23 kills per game with a .217 hitting pct.

Brittany Freeman, Guilford College, Sophomore, Outside Hitter
Freeman averaged a team-high 3.00 kills per set in the Quakers’ 1-1 week that included an ODAC win at Randolph… also contributed 1.33 digs per set, two blocks and four service aces… had eight kills on .211 hitting with two service aces and five digs in a 3-0 loss to Lynchburg… recorded 10 kills on .350 hitting with three digs, two blocks and two service aces in a 3-0 road win over Randolph.

Mallory Stewart, Lynchburg College, Sophomore, Outside Hitter
Stewart boasted a .643 hitting percentage last week as the Hornets posted a 3-0 record. She slammed 18 kills with no errors in 28 attempts and added two solo blocks and five assisted blocks.

Jessica Sears, Randolph-Macon College, Sophomore, Outside Hitter
Sears helped R-MC to a 3-2 week, with both losses coming at the hands of nationally ranked opponents.  Sears had 10 kills and nine digs at No. 6 CNU, then earned all-tournament honors at the Emory University Invitational over the weekend.  In a win over Birmingham Southern, Sears had nine kills and 12 digs and followed that with a 13 kill, 22 dig performance against Berry.   She had nine kills and 11 digs in a loss to the No. 4 Eagles and closed out the tournament with an eight kill, 17 digs game against Maryville.  For the week, she had 49 kills 71 digs, 8 total blocks and 10 aces.  She averaged 3.0 kills and 4.4 digs per game.

Lindsey Dee, Washington and Lee University, Junior, Middle Blocker
Dee led the Generals to a 4-1 week, W&L’s only loss coming to No. 2 Emory … averaged 8.4 kills and 4.0 blocks in five matches and hit .408 for the week … posted 12 kills and added a pair of blocks in a 3-1 win over Maryville … had 10 kills (.412) and added a career-high nine blocks (five solo) in a 3-2 win over Birmingham Southern.
