Boles, a sophomore from Houston, Texas, led the Generals to a 5-0 week, including a 4-0 record in the Maroon Classic in which she was named Most Valuable Player. Boles totaled 51 kills (3.6/set), 43 digs (3.1/set) and added three service aces and six total blocks. She registered 11 kills, while adding 10 digs, in a 3-0 win over ODAC foe Emory & Henry. Boles pounded out 12 kills while pick up nine digs and two blocks in a 3-1 win over Averett. She followed that up with 18 kills and a .405 hitting percentage with 16 digs in a 3-1 win over Methodist and 10 kills, eight digs and three blocks in a 3-0 win over Southern Virginia. For the season, Boles is second in the ODAC with 274 total kills and 3.70 kills per game. Her .295 hitting percentage is fourth.
Volleyball Honor Roll
Nicole Tesh, Emory & Henry, Sophomore, Middle
Hitter
Tesh led the Wasps this past week with 28 kills and a
.558 hitting percentage for 3.11 kills per set. Tesh was a
perfect 8-for-8 on Monday night against Ferrum and had 11 kills
against Washington and Lee on Wednesday. She wrapped up her week
with nine kills on Sunday against Eastern Mennonite. Tesh has
118 kills for the season, ranking fourth for Emory & Henry. Her
28 service aces are second on the team as are her 36 blocks.
Laura Kopald, Guilford, Senior, Right Side
Kopald helped the Quakers to a 3-0 week with a team-high 31 kills
on .342 hitting… also contributed four service aces, six
digs and two blocks… led Guilford with eight kills on .316
hitting in a 3-0 win over Greensboro… paced the Quakers with
a career-high 14 kills on .414 hitting in Guilford’s 3-1 win
over ODAC-foe Randolph… also had two service aces in the
match… registered nine kills on .273 hitting with a service
ace in Guilford’s four-set league win over Eastern
Mennonite.
Aricquel Payne, Lynchburg, Freshman, Outside
Hitter
Payne led the Hornet volleyball team least week during a 1-3
showing at the Emory National Tournament at Emory University and a
2-3 stretch overall. She collected 58 kills in five matches and
added 48 digs, 13 blocks and three service aces. Payne was named to
the All-Emory National Tournament Team this weekend.
Jordan Templin, Randolph, Freshman, Outside
Hitter
Templin continued her fine play of late for the WildCats, racking
up 10 kills per match to go with eight aces, 39 digs and seven
total blocks. Against Ferrum on Friday, Templin collected 15 kills
to go with 11 digs. The double-double was her sixth of the season,
which leads all WildCats. She followed that up with back-to-back 11
kill contests against Southern Virginia and Averett. For the week,
she hit at a .260 clip and had at least one block in every
match.
Mallory Carter, Randolph-Macon, Junior, Outside
Hitter
Carter helped R-MC to a 2-0 week with an ODAC win over Eastern
Mennonite and a victory over No. 6 Christopher Newport. In
the win over CNU Tuesday, Carter had 20 kills and 18 digs on the
defensive side of the net. She also had two block solos as
well and two serving aces. She followed that up the
next night with 19 kills on 35 attempts, while making just one
error against EMU. She also had 10 digs, two aces and two
assisted blocks. For the week, she finished with 39
kills, 28 digs, four aces, and three blocks.
Kala Guy, Virginia Wesleyan, Junior, Outside
Hitter
Guy guided VWC to a 3-1 week, all at the Gallaudet University
Worthington Classic....the Marlins defeated Keuka College, Rowan
University and Allegheny College, and fell to Catholic
University. Guy was named to the All-Tournament team.
She finished with 16 kills and 17 digs in the win over
Allegheny. Guy leads VWC with 218 kills and is second on the
team with 192 digs. She also leads the Marlins with 35 aces,
including five added during the Worthington Classic.
