Boles, a junior from Houston, Texas, helped the Generals to a 4-0 showing this past week, which included an ODAC win over Shenandoah. Boles connected for 47 total kills with double figures in each of her three matches played. She averaged 3.92 kills for the week while also collected 52 digs and six aces. She had a pair of double-doubles with 18 kills and 19 digs in a 3-1 win over Rhodes College. She followed that with 6 winners and a career-high 28 digs in a 3-2 win over Berry College. Boles notched a pair of aces in each match. The 47 kills moved Boles into eighth place on the W&L's all-time kills list with 1,114 winners.
Volleyball Honor Roll
Megann Grimes, Bridgewater (Va.) -
(So, MH - Midland, Va., 14)
Grimes had 35 kills in a 3-1 week for the Eagles, which included a
3-0 win over ODAC foe Virginia Wesleyan. She posted 10 kills,
five blocks and a pair of aces in a 3-0 win over Rivier. She
backed that with 16 kills, three blocks and three aces against
Western New England. Her efforts at the MIT Quad earned her a
spot on the all-tournament team.
Sara Ritchie, East. Mennonite - (So, OH
- Harrisonburg, VA, 9)
Ritchie led EMU to a 1-1 week, capped off by a career-best
attacking performance on EMU's Homecoming. In Saturday's 3-1 win
over Lancaster Bible, Ritchie hammered out 30 kills (7.5/game) to
help push the Lady Royals to a 3-1 victory. She added 12 digs for
her second consecutive double-double, along with three services
aces. It was the fifth time this season she tied her career best in
aces.
Brittany DeCesare, Guilford - (So, OH -
Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., 4)
DeCesare helped Guilford to a 1-1 week by averaging a team-high
3.3 kills and 3.9 points per set. She also contributed 3.5
digs and 0.3 blocks per set. She had eight kills, two aces,
11 digs and two blocks in a road loss to Roanoke. DeCesare
had a game-high 12 kills and 10 digs in a home win over Hollins,
her third double-double of the season. The performance also
marked her sixth with 10 or more kills.
Rebecca Loftis, Lynchburg - (Sr, MH -
Coventry, CT, 24)
Loftis led Lynchburg to a 1-1 week with a team-best .541 hitting
percentage. She had nine kills against just one error towards a
.421 hitting percentage in a 3-1 loss to ODAC-leading
Randolph-Macon. She came back with a 12-kill performance in
3-0 win over Southern Virginia in which she hit .667 without an
error.
Mallory Carter, Randolph-Macon - (Sr, OH - Moseley,
VA, 4)
Carter led the Yellow Jackets to wins over N.C. Wesleyan, Lynchburg
and Elizabethtown this past week. Against N.C. Wesleyan, Carter led
the team with 16 kills, eight service aces and 10 digs on the
night. Carter became the school's all-time leader in career kills
when the Yellow Jackets topped ODAC rival Lynchburg, 3-1. Carter
put away 13 winners on the evening to surpass Maggie McDearmon
(2003-06) as the school's all-time leader. She ended the night with
two service aces and 13 digs.
Shannon Stone, Roanoke - (Sr, S - Williamsburg, VA,
6)
Stone dished out 19 assists in the Maroons 3-0 home win over
Guilford College. She added five kills, seven digs and a six
blocks to her effort.
Taylor Allen, Va. Wesleyan - (SR, MH - Bowie, Md.,
10)
Allen helped guide VWC to a 2-1 week, including a sweep of Randolph
and St. Mary's on Saturday. She led the Marlins in the match
against St. Mary's with a career-high 21 kills. She recorded 41
kills in the three matches and registered a .633 hitting percentage
against Randolph. She also posted six block assists in the three
matches to increase her career total to 205, just 14 off the VWC
record set by Debbie Sterne (2006-09). She now has 268 total
blocks, ranking her second among VWC's all-time leaders.
