Boles, a senior from Houston, Texas, put the stamp to her regular season by becoming the ODAC's all-time leader in career kills after helping the Generals to a 3-1 win over Emory & Henry in the final match of the regular season. The win over E&H also locked up the top seed for W&L in the upcoming ODAC tournament. Boles notched 16 kills and hit .277 to go with 17 digs and three blocks in the victory over the Wasps. Having set the W&L career kills record earlier in the season, Boles 16 winners versus E&H give her 1,666 for her career, surpassing the 1,656 posted by former Roanoke College standout Heather Cook '04. Boles currently leads the ODAC in kills (367), attackes (1,000) and total points won (429.5).
Volleyball Honor Roll
Megann Grimes, Bridgewater (Jr., Middle Hitter -
Midland, Va.)
In a 1-1 week for BC, Grimes collected 18 kills and seven blocks.
She hit .469 for the week. She had 11 kills in a 3-1
loss to Averett.
Nicole Tesh, Emory & Henry (Sr., Middle Hitter -
Boone, N.C.)
Tesh crossed the 950-career kill plateau in the Wasps
1-2 week. She collected 31 winners, giving her 962 for her
career. She had 12 kills in a 3-0 win over Ferrum, and added
13 more in a 3-1 loss to W&L. She had five blocks against
the Generals.
Kelsey Ruehling, Guilford (So., Outside Hitter - Three
Rivers, Calif.)
Ruehling helped the Quakers hit a season-high .411 as ateam with 10
kills and a .409 hitting percentage in a 3-0 win over Greensboro.
She added eight digs and four block assists, tying her
season-high. It was her fifth match with 10 or more
kills.
Aricquel Payne, Lynchburg (Jr., Middle Hitter -
Woodbridge, Va.)
Payne smacked 13 kills and hit .435 to go with four digs
and three aces in a 3-0 regular-season ending win over Hollins.
Jordan Templin, Randolph (Jr., Outside Hitter - Ferrum,
Va.)
Templin helped Randolph to a 1-1 week with 38 kills
in the two matches. In a 3-1 loss to Roanoke, she notched 38
winners in 68 attempts, adding 13 digs to her stat line. She
followed that with 17 kills and eight digs while hitting .353 in a
season ending 3-0 win over Bluefield State.
Tori Puryear, Randolph-Macon (Sr., Middle Hitter -
Madison, Va.)
In her final two regular season matches -- wins over
Virginia Union (3-0) and Virginia State (3-2) -- Puryear registered
21 kills, seven digs and six blocks. she had 11 winners
against VUU, and chipped in 10 kills against Virginia
State.
