Courtney Lowers, Randolph-Macon, Jr., Outside Hitter

Lowers, a junior from Suffolk, Va., helped the Yellow Jackets open the season 2-1 that included a 1-1 showing at the Berry Invitational against nationally-ranked competition.  Randolph-Macon opened with a 3-0 win over N.C. Wesleyan with Lowers collecting nine kills against no errors for a .450 hitting percetage.  In a 3-1 loss to second-ranked Emory University, Lowers exploded for 22 kills and a .288 attack percentage to go with 13 digs.  She won 22 points in the match, the most of any player.  R-MC capped its tournament with a 3-1 win over Berry, which received votes towards the AVCA national poll.  Lowers went for 13 kills and nine digs to seal her place on the all-tournament team.  For the week, Lowers smacked 44 winners at a .280-clip with 29 digs over 11 sets in three matches.

Volleyball Honor Roll

Shannon Skellchock, Bridgewater (So., S - Germantown, Md.)
Skellchock provided the Bridgewater attack with solid passing in its 1-3 start to the season.  She notched 100 total assists for a 7.14 per-set average, which included 43 assists in a 3-2 win over Keene St.  She also collected 34 total digs.

Sara Ritchie, Eastern Mennonite (Sr., OH - Harrisonburg, Va.)
Ritchie helped the Royals to a 3-1 start with 63 kills and a .239 hitting percentage to go with 47 total digs and five aces.  She eclipsed 10 kills in each match, including 21 kills, 14 digs and two aces in a 3-1 win over Goucher.  She had 18 winners in a 3-0 win over Hood.

Kennady Thomason, Emory & Henry (So., M - Chattanooga)
Thomason helped the Wasps open 2014 with a 3-2 record as she collected 28 kills and hit at a .329-clip while also registering 13 total blocks.  She had 11 kills in a 3-1 win over Guilford and four blocks each against Central (Iowa)(L, 3-0) and Greensboro (W, 3-1).

Sam Page, Lynchburg (Jr., Libero - Chesterfield, Va.)
Page was named to the Berry Invitational All-Tournament Team after collected 40 digs from her libero position in the Hornets' 1-3 weekend.  She had 15 pickups against Berry (L, 3-0).

Jordan Templin, Randolph (Sr., OH - Ferrum, Va.)
Templin recorded 55 kills and hit .273 as the WildCats opened the season 3-1 at the Averett Invitational.  She registered 52 digs and 13 total blocks, helping her earn a spot on the all-tournament team.  Templin reached double figures in kills in each match, including 16 twice in wins over Greensboro (3-0) and Averett (3-2).  She had four blocks in three of the matches, and reached double figure digs three times.

Allison White, Roanoke (Jr., OH - Galax, Va.)
White was named MVP of the Averett Invitational after collecting 45 kills and hitting .267 to lead Roanoke to a 4-0 record.  White also had 37 digs, five blocks and five aces.  She reached double figures twice, including 16 with 11 digs in a 3-0 win over Methodist.

Elizabeth Lamont, Shenandoah (Fr., OH - South Riding, Va.)
Lamont led Shenandoah to a 2-0 start to the season by collecting 19 kills against just two errors in 31 total attacks for a .548 attack percentage.  She had 12 kills in a 3-0 win over Dickinson, adding nine digs.

Marin Crowder, Virginia Wesleyan (Jr., Libero - Charlottesville, Va.)
Crowder was named to the Captains Classic all-tournament team after leading all players with 76 digs and helping VWC to a 3-1 record.  She record 20 digs in wins over Meredith (3-0) and Keene St. (3-0), as well as picking up 19 digs in a win over Southern Virginia (3-1).

Alex Kinzer, Washington and Lee (Jr., S - Greenville, S.C.)
Kinzer helped the Generals to a 3-1 showing at the Captains Classic, picking up all-tournament team honors after dishing out 105 assists with 10 kills, 17 digs, six blocks and four aces.  Kinzer averaged 8.75 assists per set, the third-best at the tournament.  He handed out 33 helpers in a 3-0 win over Meredith.
