Mesa Willis, Lynchburg, Sr., Outside Hitter

Willis, a senior from Dabneys, Va., opened her 2017 campaign with a strong showing on both sides of the ball to secure All-Tournament Teams honors at the EMU Invitational. Willis went for 60 kills, 50 digs and five blocks with a .233 hitting percentage over 163 attacks in the Hornets 2-2 showing. She had a pair of 19-kill outings, adding in 21 digs and two blocks with a pair of assists against Catholic Unviersity and a 18 digs with a block against Salem College. She added 15 kills and 10 digs with two blocks against Methodist, and added seven kills against Mary Baldwin. Willis finished the weekend accounting for 62.5 points and 3.9 points per set for Lynchburg.

Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll

Allison Clark, OH, BC: Helped Bridgewater to a 4-0 showing at the Puerto Rico Classic with 45 kills and 28 digs while hitting .265. Had 15 kills in a win over Simpson (3-2).

Skyler Johnson, DS, EMU: Averaged 5.91 digs on the way to All-Tournament Team honors at the EMU Invitational. Had matches of 28 and 23 digs.

Jessica Sheek, MB, GC: Went for 26 kills, four aces and 10 total blocks while hitting .426 in a 2-1 showing at the Cougar Classic. Earned All-Tournament honors. Had two matches of 11 kills each, hitting .526 vs. Roanoke (W, 3-1).

Courtney Chappell, OH, HU: Helped Hollins to its first 2-0 start since 2010 with 15 kills, 13 digs, and 12 aces while hitting .464. Had nine kills and seven aces vs. Wesleyan (Ga.)(W, 3-0).

Samantha Sallade, Lib., R-MC: Helped lead R-MC to a 3-0 showing at the Virginia Wesleyan Invitational with 82 digs at a 6.83 per set average. Picked up 42 balls in a win over Cabrini (3-2) for 8.40 per set. Went for 24 (6.00/s) and 16 (5.33/s) in wins over Benedictine (Ill.)(3-1) and St. Catherine (3-0).

Christen Zammit, S/DS, RC: Earned All-Tournament honors at the Cougar Classic after helping Roanoke to a 2-2 weekend.

Doneisha Hall, OH, VWU: Collected 40 kills, five aces, and 14 digs in a 3-1 showing at the Virginia Wesleyan Invitational. Had 15 kills in a win over Goucher (3-1).

Katie Volk, DS, W&L: Led the back row at the McAttack Bash hosted by Birmingham Southern, in which W&L went 3-1. Collected 72 digs to averaged 5.54 per set. Had 22 against Covenant (W, 3-1)
