Matalus, a junior from Colorado Springs, Colo., put together a big week at the net to help Virginia Wesleyan to a pair of victories including the program's first-ever triumph over local rival and nationally 20th-ranked Christopher Newport University. In that match, Matalus registered 16 kills against just one error for a .500 attack percentage. She added four digs and two total blocks, including a block-assist on the match-clinching point with Doneisha Hall to secure the 3-2 victory. Matalus was productive and efficient for a second time in a 3-1 win over Shenandoah to move the Marlins to 2-0 in ODAC play. Matalus collected 17 kills against three errors for a .452 attack percentage. She chipped in a block to give her 17-plus points responsible in both matches. Matalus is currently #2 in Division III and tops in the conference in attack percentage (.388). She is ninth at 3.3 points per set and has registered 101 kills.
