Courtney Berry, Washington and Lee, Sr., Middle Blocker
April 27, 2021Berry, a senior from Charlottesville, Va., led the Washington and Lee volleyball team to three victories last week. She recorded a W&L record 13 blocks, to go with 15 kills, in a 3-2 victory at Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday. Berry followed that with 12 kills on 16 attempts (.688 hitting percentage), four blocks and six digs in a 3-0 win over Shenandoah. She also had seven kills and two blocks in a 3-0 victory against Lynchburg on Sunday. For the week, Berry had 34 kills (3.09 k/s) on a .397 hitting percentage to go with 19 blocks (1.73 b/s), 10 digs and five service aces. She currently leads the conference in hitting percentage (.327) and is second in blocks per set (1.18). -
Grace Hayes, Bridgewater, So., Setter
April 20, 2021Hayes, a sophomore from Boone, N.C., helped Bridgewater improve its current run to five wins in six matches by going 3-0 against ODAC competition last week. Hayes keyed the Eagles offense with 97 assists over the three outings while adding in 26 digs, six kills, four blocks, and three aces. She started with 30 assists and a career-best 17 digs in a 3-1 win over previous ODAC second-place team Lynchburg. She tacked on two kills and an ace to her line. Bridgewater then hosted Guilford College and Randolph College in a tri-match and posted a pair of 3-0 wins. Hayes dished out 67 combined assists with 30 helpers against the Quakers and 37 versus the WildCats. She registered five digs, two aces, and a block against GC and chipped in four kills, four digs, and three blocks versus Randolph. For the season, Hayes is third in the ODAC in overall assists (317) and assists per set (8.57). She is ninth in service aces (16).

Emma Drake, Lynchburg, Jr., Right Side
April 13, 2021Drake, a junior from Newsoms, Va., helped Lynchburg rattled off three ODAC wins last week to improve to 8-4 over and 7-1 in ODAC play to take over solo third position in the league table. Drake hit .433 for the week with 3.20 kills per set and five total blocks towards 38.5 points earned over the three matches. Her week began with five kills from her right-side position to go with three digs and a pair of aces in a 3-1 win over Randolph-Macon. That victory snapped a three-game skid against the Yellow Jackets. Drake then exploded for 27 kills and just two errors in a tri-match sweep of Emory & Henry and Shenandoah. She went for 13 kills and a .500 attack percentage in match one against the Wasps. She tacked on two aces, two digs, and a pair of block assists. Against Shenandoah, Drake posted a .737 attack percentage powered by 14 kills and zero errors in 19 attacks. She added three block assists and a dig to her line. For the season, Drake is second in the ODAC in kills (113) and total points earned (133.0). She ranks third in attacks (289), eighth in assisted blocks (18), and ninth in total blocks (19).

Greta Coss, Virginia Wesleyan, Sr., Middle Blocker
April 06, 2021Coss, a senior from Bowie, Md., helped lead Virginia Wesleyan to a pair of ODAC wins in a tri-match against Emory & Henry College at Randolph College. Coss opened with 12 kills and hit .286 in a 3-0 win over E&H. She registered a pair of block assists to go with a dig and was responsible for 13 points in the match at 4.3 per set. Against the host WildCats, Coss posted 11 kills and hit .333 in a 3-1 triumph. She added two block assists and two digs. She accounted for 12 points at 3.0 per set. For the season, Coss leads the ODAC in hitting percentage (.381), is fifth in kills per set (3.45), sixth in points per set (3.8) and eighth in kills (76).

Linsey Bailey, Roanoke, Jr., Outside Hitter
March 30, 2021Bailey, a junior from Fincastle, Va., collected 34 kills over seven sets in two matches to help Roanoke improve to 4-2 on the season with a pair of ODAC victories on the weekend. Bailey exploded for a season-high 23 kills in a 3-1 victory over Bridgewater in the first of two matches for the Maroons on Saturday. It is the 14th time in her career she has registered 20 or more kills in a match. She hit .210 for the against the Eagles and added 17 digs for her second double-double of the season. She chipped in two aces and a block assist towards 25.5 total points (6.4/set) for the match. Bailey then hit .333 with 11 kills to go with seven digs in a 3-0 win over Shenandoah to cap the tri-match with BC and SU. She added three aces and a block assist on the way to 14.5 points (4.8/set) earned. For the season, Bailey is second in the ODAC in kills (86), kills per set (3.91), total attacks (257), and points earned (97.0). She is third in points per set (4.4).

Paris Hutchinson, Eastern Mennonite, Fy., Opposite
March 23, 2021Hutchinson, a first-year from Waynesboro, Va., put together a strong week in leading Eastern Mennonite to a pair of ODAC wins to level the Royals' record to 2-2. Hutchinson hit .553 over the two matches with 22 kills against just one error. She opened with eight kills and a .438 attack percentage in a 3-0 win at Ferrum. She earned 10.5 points for the match to go along with a pair of aces, seven digs, and a block assist. Hutchinson turned up the production with an error-free 14 kills towards a .636 attack percentage in a 3-0 win over Randolph. She added 15 digs for her first collegiate double-double. She also registered three aces towards 17.0 total points earned at 5.7 per set. For the season, Hutchinson is hitting .337 with 40 kills against seven errors in 98 attacks. Her 4.0 points per set average ranks fourth in the ODAC.

Kate Poppo, Shenandoah, So, Outside Hitter
March 16, 2021Poppo, a sophomore from Cross Junction, Va., helped Shenandoah start the first spring volleyball season in ODAC history with a pair of wins over Randolph College, 3-2, and Mt. Aloysius, 3-0. Poppo registered 36 total kills at 4.50 per set while hitting .300 (36-12-80). She added 25 digs, nine aces, and accounted for 45.0 points at 5.6 per set. Against Randolph, Poppo smashed her previous single-match high for kills (13) with 21 winners while hitting .372 from her outside position. She added 17 digs and collected six aces to lead to 27.0 points earned at 5.4 per set. If not for her showing against the WildCats, Poppo's 15 kills against Mt. Aloysius would have marked a new personal-best attacking match. She added eight digs and three aces on the way to 18.0 points and 6.0 per set.
