ODAC Athletes of the Week | Cross Country

FOREST, Va. --- The end of the 2019 regular season is near with several teams in action as preparations begin in earnest for the ODAC Championships on November 2. This weeks' ODAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Runners of the Week are Lynchburg sophomore Max Sparks and Bridgewater senior English Jackson.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Max Sparks | Lynchburg | So.
Sparks, a sophomore from Canton, Conn., posted a new personal-best time on eight-kilometer courses at the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Rowan University. Sparks finished 256-person event in 39th position with a time of 25:19.7 that ranks second in the ODAC this season. It also ties for ninth best in Lynchburg history. His efforts helped Lynchburg place 10th of 29 squads on the team table.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
English Jackson | Bridgewater | Sr.
Jackson, a senior from Grottoes, Va., picks up her second ODAC weekly honor of the year after winning her second race of the season. Jackson topped a field of 259 runners at the 31st Annual Gettysburg Invitational. She posted a winning time of 22:42.1 and completed the six-kilometer course in Gettysburg, Pa., more than 12-seconds quicker than the second place finisher. Jackson adds this first place finish to her top-showing at the Hornet Harrier hosted by Shenandoah University earlier this season. It is her third career collegiate win.
