ODAC BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT FORMATS

Formats for the 2021 ODAC basketball tournaments were determined by alternative methods from previous seasons due to a number of circumstances including conference scheduling, unequal number of games played, and no neutral site venue. Below is how the tournament seeds were determined as well as the game formats for the tournaments. Please note that schedule adjustments can and will be made when necessary based on hosting capabilities at the designated school. As such, all dates should be considered subject to change.

Determination of Conference Seeds

  • Seeds 1-4 were determined by final placement in the conference standings
    • To be eligible for a top-4 seed, a team must have played at least 50% of the maximum amount of conference games played
    • On the men's side, Ferrum played the most ODAC games at 9; therefore, to be eligible for a top-4 seed, a team must have played 4 ODAC games (9/2=4.5 round down to 4)
    • On the women's side, Ferrum played the most ODAC games at 9; therefore, to be eligible for a top-4 seed, a team must have played 4 ODAC games (9/2=4.5 round down to 4)
  • Seeds 5-10 were drawn at-large from the remaining active teams in the conference for both the men's and women's ranks
