BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. --- All five Washington and Lee University players finished second thru sixth on the final leaderboard as the Generals completed a wire-to-wire performance to capture the program's second ODAC women's golf championship on Monday afternoon.
Weather again forced ODAC players to compete in an altered format as heavy rain threaten to shorten the three rounds slated for Bryan Park Golf & Conference Center in Browns Summit, N.C. With Tuesday looking to be a wash on predicted forecasts, the tournament's games committee made the decision to attempt to get both the second and third rounds completed on Monday rather than shorten the 54-hole event to 36 holes.
The move worked as all 32 women's golfers completed two rounds on Monday despite periods on and off rain, sometimes heavy in nature.

For the second straight year, Bridgewater College senior Christina Herbert stood atop the podium as the individual medalist. The reigning NCAA Division III champion carded rounds of 3-over 76, 3-under 70, and 5-over 78 for a 5-over 224 on the par 72 layout set to 5,800 yards on Bryan Park's Champions Course. Her second round 70 was the only sub-par round of the tournament. Herebert's third round card was especially maddening as she coupled an eagle and four birdies with three bogeys, two doubles, and a nine on the par-5 sixth hole.
Despite the uneven final round, Herbert stood eight shots clear of runner-up Hannah Jones from Washington and Lee. Jones led consecutive Generals on the individual table, carding a 13-over 232 following rounds of 76, 82, and 74. The latter mark was the lowest score of the third round.
Fellow first-year General Beth Ann Townsend (77-78-78) finished third at 14-over 233. Griffin Foultz (79-8-76), the 2017 ODAC Rookie of the Year, chimed in fourth at 16-over 235, while senior classmates Mary-Frances Hall (79-79-79) and Liza Freed (76-84-78) placed fifth and sixth at 18-over 237 and 19-over 238, respectively.
Washington and Lee ended the tournament at 57-over 933 with team rounds of 308, 319, and 306. Bridgewater finished second at 115-over 991 (326-327-338) and Randolph-Macon College rounded out the top three in third at 145-over 1,021 (353-329-339).
