SALEM, Va. --- The first ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships since 2020 featured nine broken men's records and a sweep of the team titles as the University of Lynchburg capped two days in Roanoke College's Kerr-Cregger Fieldhouse by lifting both league trophies.
The Hornets collected 194.0 points in the women's team standings to out-pace second place Washington and Lee University (119.50) and third place Roanoke (104.50). Lynchburg's men earned 170.0 points to rank ahead of second place W&L (95.0) and third place Bridgewater College (77.0).
Lynchburg, which has won an ODAC-best 29 men's indoor titles, enjoys its first men's championship since donning 17 consecutive crowns from 1998 through 2014. Lynchburg's women's program increases its league record mark to 12 championships with its third straight piece of conference hardware.
In addition to the team trophies, the ODAC announced the winners of the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete awards. Those also featured Hornets, albeit from different schools. Lynchburg distance runner Stephanie Burnett garnered her second ODAC academic honor of the season after earning the same award for cross country. Shenandoah University thrower Tucker Kindig received the men's recognition. Both awards are nominated for and voted upon by the conference's athletic communications personnel.
The ODAC's remaining slate of indoor track & field awards will be announced later this week following a vote of the league's head coaches.

Seven new championship records and a pair of ODAC overall benchmarks were set over the weekend. Lynchburg mid-distance runner Sam Llaneza snapped both standards in the mile run with a time of 4:07.78. That bested the previous overall record of 4:11.91 set by Eastern Mennonite University's Isaac Alderfer last season and the championship record of 4:18.64 established by former W&L runner Ian McDonald in 2017.
Virgina Wesleyan University hurdler Landry Moffo entered the weekend having already set the ODAC overall standard in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.22 seconds earlier this winter. He smashed both that mark and the previous championship record of 8.23 seconds set by former Randolph College speedster Darren Petty in 2019. Moffo's new mark stands at 8.09 seconds.
Lynchburg's Alex Shadkhoo returned to the 200-meter dash winner's circle in championship record time. The 2019 outdoor and 2020 indoor champion in the event set a new indoor meet record with a time of 22.13 seconds, eclipsing the previous standard of 22.17 seconds set by former VWU sprinter Randy Lott in 2014.
Shadkhoo's teammates Tor Hotung-Davidsen and Max Sparks took to longer distances to add two more individual records to Lynchburg's haul. Hotung-Davidsen, who twice set the ODAC overall 800-meter run record this season (1:51.75), now owns the championship mark. His time of 1:54.06 eclipsed the record of 1:55.43 set by former Guilford College mid-distance runner Dylan Skinner in 2012. Sparks, the ODAC overall record-holder in the 3,000-meter after posting a time of 8:15.57 earlier this season, won the championship event in 8:31.70 to overtake the previous benchmark of 8:40.89 set by former EMU runner Alec Thibodeaux in 2017.
Shenandoah's Kindig accounted for the remaining individual record of the meet. He heaved the weight throw 17.64 meters (57-10.50) to snap the record of 17.35 meters (56-11.25) set by former Lynchburg thrower Greg Wilson in 2014.
Lynchburg's distance medley relay represents the ninth record of the championship. The team of Hotung-Davidsen, Jacob Hodnett, Kyle Lauffenberger, and Corbin Green finished the event in 10:17.21 to eclipse the previous standard of 10:34.09 set by Virginia Wesleyan in 2012.
