ODAC Men's Soccer Tournament | 9-Team Field Set

Hampden-Sydney Earns Top Billing

FOREST, Va. --- Not a single seed in the ODAC Men's Soccer Tournament was determined before the final night of competition, and the final standings left four ties to sift thru by the end of all six games on Tuesday evening. That did not include the top two seeds as Hampden-Sydney College and Washington and Lee University earned their placements outright as the first and second seeds, respectively, in the nine-team field.

Roanoke College and the University of Lynchburg deadlocked for third position. The second step in the league's tiebreaking procedure, which awards points for game's won against common opponents, awarded the Maroons the third seed and the Hornets the fourth seed. Both will join Hampden-Sydney and Washington and Lee as quarterfinal hosts.

The second tie also required the conference's five-point tiebreaker. Randolph-Macon College and Guilford College featured in the stalemate, with the Yellow Jackets earning the fifth spot and the Quakers taking up sixth position. R-MC will travel to Lynchburg for quarterfinal action, while Guilford heads north to Roanoke.

The tiebreaker for seventh was a step quicker in resolution. Virginia Wesleyan University will play as the seventh seed following its head-to-head victory over Randolph College in the regular season. The Marlins travel to Washington and Lee for quarterfinal play, while the WildCats occupy the eighth seed and will host a first-round matchup with ninth-seeded Bridgewater College. The Eagles position was also determined by head-to-head tiebreakers against Ferrum College as BC's regular season win over the Panthers provided the difference. The winner of the Bridgewater at Randolph first-round tilt will travel to Hamdpen-Sydney for the quarterfinals.

Tournament play begins on Friday, November 1, with the first round contest at #8 Randolph and continues with four quarterfinal matchups on Sunday, November 3. The highest remaining seed following the quarterfinals will host both the semifinals and championship the weekend of November 8-10 with official dates to be determined. Updates will be announced as hosting scenarios are decided among the ODAC's fall sports.
