Washington and Lee Wins 10th Straight ODAC Men's Tennis Title

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. --- The top-seeded Washington and Lee men's tennis team posted a 5-0 victory over Hampden-Sydney in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship match on Sunday morning at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on the campus of Old Dominion University.

The victory gave W&L its 10th straight conference title and its 38th ODAC Championship overall.  This marks the second straight year that W&L has defeated the Tigers in the championship match, having posted a 5-1 win in last season's title match.

W&L got off to a quick start in the 2019 championship bout, claiming all three doubles points to open a 3-0 lead entering singles play.  In singles, first-year Bobby Neuner (Darien, Conn. / Darien) and sophomore Noah Tapp (Lexington, Ky. / Henry Clay) claimed wins at No. 3 and 4, respectively, to close out the match.

Washington and Lee is now 15-7 overall, while Hampden-Sydney fell to 13-9 on the season.

W&L receives the ODAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament and will wait to see who it will play and where.  The selections will be announced on Monday.
