ODAC Baseball Tournament Field Announced

Shenandoah Locks Up Top Seed on Final Day

FOREST, Va. --- The ODAC baseball standings were packed heading into the final day, with several possibilities for ties existing for seeds in the conference postseason.  Results took care of all but one of those scenarios on Saturday, with Shenandoah University pulling ahead to secure the top seed in next week's ODAC Baseball Tournament.

Shenandoah (30-8, 15-5) swept Lynchburg College to perch itself atop the league table.  Randolph-Macon College (28-6-1, 14-6) did the same at Emory & Henry College to take hold of the second seed.  Washington and Lee University (25-12, 13-7) had its eyes set on the top two seeds, but a pair of losses to Hampden-Sydney College (26-13, 12-8) left the Generals alone in third place.

The Tigers won't have to wait long to try to make it three straight wins over W&L as H-SC will be the fourth seed after winning the tiebreaker with Virginia Wesleyan College (18-13, 12-8). H-SC and VWC split during the regular season, requiring the second step in the conference's tiebreaker to snap the deadlock.  The Marlins, who split with Eastern Mennonite University on Saturday, will take up position as the fifth seed.  Bridgewater College (21-17, 11-9) caps the six-team tournament field after splitting with Roanoke College.

Play in the ODAC Baseball Tournament begins on Thursday, April 28 and continues thru Sunday, May 1. All games will be played at City Stadium in Lynchburg, Va.  Listed below is the schedule for the four-day affair.  Due to the double elimination format, play on Saturday and Sunday could be altered depending on the number of teams remaining in the field (scenarios outlined on tournament website).
