ODAC Men's Tennis Tournament Field Announced

Marlins Own Top Seed in Eight-Team Competition

FOREST, Va. --- A new name stands atop the ODAC Men's Tennis Tournament field enter the upcoming conference postseason as Virginia Wesleyan College owns the top seed following a 10-0 march thru its league schedule.  Washington and Lee University, winners of 34 overall and six straight ODAC crowns, occupies the second seed.

Bridgewater College staked its claim to the third seed outright, but then a pair of ties determined the next four tournament posititions.  Randolph-Macon College and Roanoke College tied with 6-4 league marks.  The Yellow Jackets regular season win over the Maroons affords them the fourth seed, but #5 RC will get its shot at redemption as they'll head to Ashland for a quarterfinal matchup next Sunday.

The sixth and seventh seeds also needed tiebreakers, with head-to-head results proving the deciding factor.  Guilford College and Randolph College both registered .500 records at 5-5, but the Quakers victory over the WildCats award GC the higher seeding in the sixth position. Randolph will be seventh.

Lynchburg College needed a win on the final day to stave off a three-way tie for tournament-capping eighth seed.  The Hornets did just that, defeating Hampden-Sydney College 5-4 to finish at 3-7 in league play and secure the final postseason position.

Tournament play begins Sunday, May 1, with the four quarterfinals scheduled to be played at the campuses of the four highest seeds.  Each of the four winners will play in the semifinals on Saturday, May 7, with the championship following on Sunday, May 8.  Washington and Lee University will serve as the pre-determined host for the final three matches.
