BC's Womack, W&L's Lee Earn Top Individual Honors

LYNCHBURG, Va. --- Bridgewater College put another feather in its cap on Saturday afternoon in Lynchburg as the Eagles took home both team titles from the ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championshps for the first time in program history.  The dual victory completes a season sweep of conference crowns in 2015-16 as the Eagles add these two trophies to the pair they hoisted following the ODAC indoor championships in February.

Bridgewater sprinter and jumper Davonta Womack took home a pair of men's special awards as he was tabbed the ODAC Athlete of the Meet and ODAC Rookie of the Year.  Washington and Lee University sprinter and jumper Dana Lee secured the women's ODAC Athlete of the Meet honor, while teammate Samantha Yates received ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades.  BC mentor Brian Flynn garnered the ODAC Coach of the Year laurels on the men's side, while the women's top coaching award went to Roanoke College's Finn Pincus. Eastern Mennonite University swept the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete awards as Tyler Denlinger and Hannah Chappell-Dick repeated their efforts from the indoor campaign.

Five total championship meet records were broken over two days at Lynchburg's Shellenberger Field.  In addition to the 10,000-meter run and 3,000-meter steeplechase standards set by LC's Andrew Osborne (31:49.56) and Roanoke College's Harrison Toney (9:21.67) on Friday, a pair of women's benchmarks and one new men's standard were established.  Washington and Lee University's Ian McDonald bested the 1,500-meter run record by 0.64-seconds with a winning time of 3:56.27. Eastern Mennonite University's Hannah Chappell-Dick broke her own mark in the 800-meter run with a new standard of 2:11.80.  The final standard came in the women's 4x400-meter relay.  Roanoke's team of Mackenzie Davignon, Alexis Janney, Brynn MacDougall, and Erin McGovern snapped their own previous record by 0.27-seconds at 3:54.07.
